Boat lift canopy

Does anyone have suggestions on how to keep the birds off my boat lift canopy? How about the bugs that infest the inside of it and fall in the boat?

You can try a plastic model of a owl, I have seen them on several docks and it seems to work. Not sure how to keep but from under the Canopy. It seems like if you live on a lake you will have bugs under it.

ive seen some of the neighbors using a spray bug repelant on corners and beams, the cricks that the bugs go in,and all the problem areas he had. not sure if it worked but it looked like a foam, that hardened after a while. ill ask them and see if it works.

Plastic snakes work well. We used to have swallows nest inside. We put plastic snakes on the canopy and the problem stopped.

I tried the owl after a couple weeks the birds were sitting on it!The bugs use a propane fogger every few days it helps.

I put out a plastic owl after having my dock and lift "whitewashed" and there has never been an issue since (a few years).

I tie strips of black plastic garbage backs to the frame under the canopy and I get no birds. Guy next to me used a rubber owl and birds nested and had their young under there. Tossing a rubber snake on the top does work.
