I'm not a fisheries guy so I can't toss out an expert opinion. However, little snow and many sub zero days in SW MN meant SUPER THICK ICE. Lime lake has about 36 inches of ice right now. It's a good thing most of these shallow lakes have airators or there would be a lot of freeze outs.

I look at it this way, thicker ice means ice fishing season will be longer than normal for me. I don't see the bad in this.

Then again, mother nature has done things like this long before we showed up to mess with the cycle of things. I'm sure she knows what she's doing.
