effects on next season?

Mild winter?... This one has felt colder and more brutal than many of the last.. how many days below 0 have we had compared to others? We have had less snow here than normal which will affect lake levels.

I'm not a fisheries guy so I can't toss out an expert opinion. However, little snow and many sub zero days in SW MN meant SUPER THICK ICE. Lime lake has about 36 inches of ice right now. It's a good thing most of these shallow lakes have airators or there would be a lot of freeze outs.

I look at it this way, thicker ice means ice fishing season will be longer than normal for me. I don't see the bad in this.

Then again, mother nature has done things like this long before we showed up to mess with the cycle of things. I'm sure she knows what she's doing.

Yeah - hopefully we can get some snow or an extremely wet spring to bring lake levels up!

An extremely wet spring usually means an extremely cool spring, and more often than not that has a negative impact on many species during the spawn.

and if the lakes continue to get lower...i am sure that will have some negative impact on the species???
