I guess I've been using the wrong bait

just recieved this in email. Here's the story behind it.

When a man in South Louisiana saw a ball bouncing around strangely in the
pond next door, he went to investigate and found it was flathead
catfish
with a child's basketball stuck in its mouth. The pictures tell the rest of the story. His wife had to cut the ball in order to deflate it and release the catfish.

That has got to be the strangest fish related thing I've ever seen. Maybe that ol' yeller was looking to join the circus!! Maybe it thought it was a seal. Must have been hungry. . .

Absolutely and truly amazing!!!!!!!!
Small wonder why I place the catfish at the top of the food chain! What other fish (on this continent) could come close to this feat!
So much for those who think catfish are strictly bottom feeders.
For those not in the know.....catfish will and do feed on the bottom, on the surface and everywhere in between! These photo's will back this up!

This is why we need a complete ban on rubber balls. Save the Flathead! I can see it now. The PETA crowd will be in scuba gear this year running around to beaches looking for kids playing volleyball in the water so they can sneak up under water and pop 'em.

I sure hope the kid that was playing with that ball made it out alright.

I wouldn't be surprised if someone "forcefed" this fish and thought it was funny. Its plain to see the fish would die before too long without being able to breath.
