Cannon A540 6 Megapixel is a great camera for a great price.....$169 at CC if they are not sold out, you may have to call a few stores.

Anyway a few of us bought this camera recently when the price dropped from $279 to $199 we used a coupon for $40 that was good if you spent $199. I noticed last week they went down to $169.

here is the coupon if you spend $199 you get $40 off.

If you can find one you get the camera and some rechargable batteries and a case which would get you to $199 and then use the coupon.

Don't mean to hijack, but I'm curious -- I bought a Canon 540 in August, and just haven't been happy with the quality of pix (grainy).

I'm shooting mostly on automatic, and primarily using optical zoom, if any.

Also, the lens cover only opens half-way when I activate the camera. If I touch it with a finger, it opens completely.

Did I buy a lemon camera confused.gif (it was around $300 when I purchased it at Wally World last summer)? And if I did get a bad one, how is Canon's customer service?

Thnx in advance,

eyewinder

Don't forget the SONY's. The Zeiss lens they have on them makes them really stand out from many of the other cameras that boast a bunch of other features.

Take it from an old photo guy...the SONY DSC-S85 I have puts out images you had to really WORK to get a few years back and it does it all day with no fuss. Incidentally, the DSC-S85 I have is four years old and if it broke tomorrrow I would RUN out to buy another one.

Click.

Well, what to get depends a lot on what you want to do with it. I wanted something fairly small, decent quality, and works well around water. I chose the Pentax Optio WP and it has been very qood - water proof to 1.5m. It's great for taking fishing pictures and the occasional underwater shot (swimming trout, stuff like that).
