Otter Magnum Lodge Bench Seat

Who sells the Lodge Bench Seat except Otter? I am having a devil of a time trying to buy one without driving all the way out to Maple Lake. I currently use the Bait Tray Seat and I have found it to fall off when I move myself on the sled, or travel a short distance towing it. It also has ripped the fabric of my fish house at the point where it rubs against the rear.

Do you think I could get them to trade with me paying the difference? I might have to call.

Thanks.

Otter's HSOforum has a dealer location page that had locations and phone numbers. There is a link below for Minnesota dealers. I would give some of the dealers in your area a call and perhaps one of them will have the seat in stock. I use this seat in my magnum, and love it.

they will ship one to you if you dont want to drive there. Also, i think thorne or reeds will sell you one and ship it to you. I live in iowa and that is how I bought mine. I dont think they will trade you but you could sell you seat in the classifieds. Good luck, RJ

Well, Mindy from Otter customer service said no trade-ins. That's too bad. I felt the design was defective. However, Thorne Bro's and Canvas Craft both had them. Thanks for the suggestions!

Harvey -

It depends, hows that grin.gif

I primarily jig quite a bit, so I slide the seat all the way to the edge of the tub with my feet on the ice. I tend to hunch forward and over when I jig, so I dont make much use of the back support.

If you watch deadsticks or bobbers, you can lean back and the back support is rather good IMO.

I was fishing for about 8 hours on Saturday, and my back felt great when I was done. That said, my back normally does not give me any trouble.

harvey, I switched to the bench seat a couple years ago. By far, the most comfortable seat Otter makes is the bench in my opinion/experience. I have a fussy back too and I've had the other seat designs, and with the bench I can fish all day without pain.

I'm not the tallest guy in the world, and that was my downfall of the other seat designs combined with my sensitive back. I sat a bit high in the other seats. blush.gif

I have never fished on anything else and probably wont. I really like the fact that you can sit back and stretch out on the bench seat. I do have back problems and I would not say I have never been sore after ice fishing but the bench sure gives you more room and options to sit. I keep the brackets under the seat loose enough to let the seat slide back and forth so I can position it where I want it. I am 6 foot 5 so I need some extra leg room. I love the bench seat, period.

I love using the otter bench seat. I have removed the backrest brackets and velcro'd the back rest to the seat bracket. When I take my son fishing, he just turned 6, it gives him a spot to lay down and take a nap. (I'm known to take a nap or 2 out ice fishing also)

Does the bench seat clamp down on the plastic tub securely? How easy is it to put stuff in the tub when this thing is bolted in? By the way, Thorne Bro's does not have it in stock, they have to order it too.

I think they are all the same length. Mine measures 49 inches .No they dont recline, the back rest only folds forward to lay flat on the seat for transporting . The travel cover fits like a glove over the lodge with this seat. The rear mount is hindged for easy loading and unloading gear . I keep a sawed off 2x4 in my tub to hold it up when loading. The rear mount has a pin for easy removal of the seat. I like this seat not only for comfort but I tie my gas auger handle to seat frame to keep it with the gas tank up so gas does not leak or spills.

i have the bench seat in my lodge, and while i am happy with it for convenience sake, i actually preferred the boat seat style one for comfort. the bench seat has the backrest a little to straight for my liking. would be nice if the backrest angle was adjustable.

    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
