Shappell 2000

Wondering if anyone has one of these and if you like it? Thinking of getting one for myself since the other shelter I use is 5x7, plywood floor and heavy.

They are a good entry level house. No bells and whistles just a nice place to get out of the wind. If its the plastic floor it is light as well.

That's what I was thinking too. Something not too expensive, yet gets me out of the wind, is light weight, and has a floor to put things on and keep dry. Just not sure of the quality....if they're durable and can handle the elements over time.

I am starting my 4th year with my 2000. I have the poly covering I also believe that there is also a tarp type material for covering. I don't have any holes in my yet and have hard it out in all kinds of conditions! I would suggest it for anyone looking to spend less that a few hundred bucks. It is very nice because it fits in the back seat of my car as well. You might want to think about some sort of anchors for it though if you are out where there is no snow and it is windy. I went for a little ride earlier this winter!

I have one that I used exclusively for a year. Now I have a 2-man flip-over that I mainly use. The Shappell is for quick trips when I don't want to lug everything out. Plus it fits in my car and only weighs about 30 lbs. I got mine at FF on sale at the end of the season for $120

I have a Shappell 2000 also. I bought mine last Christmas at Fleet & Farm for about $150. I love it, fits in the trunk of my car and has two molded bucket holders on top of the sled when it's folded down. Put everything on it, including the auger and make my way out onto the ice. I can set it up in about 5 minutes now. Definately worth checking out. My only problem is that you can't stand up fully in it so my back gets sore alot, but it works great for me and all my gear!

I agree, I considered the 2000 for the nice price, but for another $45-$50 you can get the 3000 which is 68" high versus the 58" on the 2000. I ended up going with that because I like to be able to stretch out a bit every once in awhile...The bigger holes are nice too, 11X26 versus 9X20...But, like some have said, the 2000 fits in the trunk better:-)

I just bought a Shappell DX3000 last Saturday from Cabelas. It measures 47" X 70" X 72" high. Marine Carpeting, two hinged hole covers (11X26), Arctic Shield fabric, two panoramic windows with shades, two zipper doors, folds in half and weighs 41 lbs. They had a few in the bargan cave for $187.00 but had 25% off which got it to around $140.00 and then they have the deal where you get $$ off depending on how much you spend so if you spend another 10 bucks you get $30.00 off for spending over $150.00. That got the price down to $110.00. Most places list this house for between $240 - $280.

Thats a steal at $110, do you know how many they had left? What cabalas were you at?

I would love to get one for that price.

Yeah, it was in the newspaper sale I got from Cabelas....that's one reason I was looking at it hard. I suppose everyone had the same idea as me though.

It was in the one at Rogers. I didn't go there planning to buy a fish house and I didn't really know what this one normally sells for, but thought it looked like a good deal so I bought it. I don't know if they have any more. When I got there they had one in a box and the one I bought setup.
