Electric fillet knife?

I've had a couple of the cheaper units ( $15 - $20 ), they didn't last very long, gears would strip out.

Bought a Rapala a couple years ago and it's still working good.

I have the American Angler electric fillet knife. All I can say is why didnt I get an electric fillet knife sooner. It made filleting my fish fun and not a chore. It might not cut as close to the skin as a quality hand fillet knife, but it sure does cut quickier. 10 to 1 quicker.

I'd give another vote for the american angler, you might miss a little meat, but the speed more than makes up for it. The battery seems to hold a good charge, and the blades cut through bone like its not even there

Bonus on my corded Rapala is the plug socket on its AC adapter cord that accepts the 12v external power cord for my ExpeditionC gps. Exploring waypoints in my living room easy chair!

Thanks forthe replies! I went with a Rapala, and already put the hurt on a bucket of panfish tonite and it worked great!

Seeing these knives in stores is funny - we have a 40 year old "electric carving knife", and you know, it is the *exact* same thing as these newer electric fillet knives. I can't believe there isn't anyone else that has one of these old things in their kitchen, but everyone I ask gives me a blank stare...
