bartered for one second hand, and it looks like the auger was set on it, without a blade cover in a couple of places... a few clean cuts around 2-3 inches long.

any advise on how to patch and have it hold up?

(as awesome as duct tape is the adhesive ain't so great in the cold....)

I'm not sure how big your tear is?

I had my poles extended, flipped my Otter cabin over and pulled it behind the truck one day out on Mille Lac's a few years ago. Left a nice gash in the side mad.gif

I contacted Otter and asked for a small piece of material and they sent it in the mail to me. Had some one stitch the new stuff on my house and also put iron-patches over the areas as well to re-inforce it! Haven't had a problem since.

Go to www.otter.com and order a patch kit in the color you want and then glue it on. I think they were $8.95.

One hint is to make the patch round. Corners snag on stuff. I used gorilla glue on a old Clam and it worked great. I would take the skin off the tub and do this on both sides on a flat surface. Im sure others have used other adhesives. What have others used?

I fixed a couple of small cuts on my shelter with "Goop". Its the clear gel like stuff used to patch holes in waders. I just covered both sides of the canves and held it together for a few seconds until it held....waited a half hour or so..and its like a clear patch....and tuff as nails.

Iron on patches will work if the tear is small, and as stated, cut your patch material to a round or oval shape and put a patch on both sides of the hole.

I take my canvas repairs to a canvas shop. That way the patches are sewed and glued on and are permanent.
