I think you're in violation of the law the "regs" state that with the all season license all 3 of the tags cannot be filled using the same method...so tagging 3 deer with your muzzleloader is illegal. You must tag at least one deer using either firearm or archery.

I may have posted incorrectly I had to reread the info but here it is for your own eyes from the DNR web site

Note: Only one antlerless deer can be taken during the firearm season in lottery deer areas and only if the hunter has obtained an either-sex permit for that deer area. Only two antlerless deer can be killed in any one season (archery, firearm, muzzleloader). To maximize opportunity, hunters should tag antlerless deer with their antlerless only tags first. For example, if you kill two antlerless deer during the firearm season, you should just use your antlerless tags. That way, you can still take a buck during the firearm season or an either-sex deer during the archery or muzzleloader season. Using the tags in this order will maximize the number of antlerless deer you can take with this license.

my old man finally got a deer for the first time in 5-7 yrs. Got it with his used muzzleloader he got this year. Everyone is shocked...usually the guy that has two clips and still not enough bullets to kill a deer. Nice doe. Missed a buck tonight frown.gif Maybe I'll see him later...biggest buck I've seen so far this year.

Please clarify for me. So far I have tagged one antlerless deer for archery and two antlerless deer for firearms. I hunt in an intensive harvest area. One of the deer I tagged during rifle was with a bonus permit.

I now have one buck/doe tag and the option to buy one more bonus permit.

For the remainder of the archery season can I still shoot two does or does it need to be one buck and one doe. Thanks.

If your in a MANAGEMENT area you can take a MAX of 3 deer in ONE season. so if I read correctly you got one in bow 2 in rifle. You have 3 of 5 possible deer already. You can take 2 more in Bow OR 2 more in Muzzleloader OR 1 of each. They just want to be careful so everyone aint going out and getting 5 deer in one season try to spread around when you get your deer. Hope you can follow.

You're good for 2 does. The all-season license qualifier is you can only shoot 2 does in any ONE season. By mixing seasons, you can take 3 does. It'll be fixed next year when the legislature gets back in session.

I thought that as long as you are in an Intensive harvest area, you can take a total of 4 does and 1 buck within any one season or a total of 5 does with mixed seasons.

In Lottery area, you can take 2 does and 1 buck with bow or 2 does by archery and 1 doe by firearms if drawn.

Oooof...

Thats all I can say. Too cornfusing.

If we have so many deer, and the herd is needing thinning, why the goofy tag scenarios? Why not just let someone go out and tag 5 deer with their bow one afternoon if they have the opportunity?

Dang, wouldnt that be a story for generations to come! shocked.gifgrin.gif

But honestly, why not let someone tag up to 5 with any single weapon if the goal is to reduce the herd?

Whoops! Getting way off topic here....

in management areas people can take 5 deer with rifle/bow. I know where your coming from and some states have max of 1 deer per day or 2 deer per day (Alabama). Look at there herds. Manage it so the bucks are left but thin does.

Back to the original topic...

Sunday afternoon was the first chance I had to get out with the muzzle loader (with an all season license). Late in the afternoon I was sneak hunting a friend's patch of woods hoping to catch a deer on one of his trails. I came to a cut alfalfa field and saw 5 deer standing out in the open on the neighbors property. The closest dear was a buck - a BIG buck. I'd say he was 50 yards standing broadside. In years past I've had permission to hunt the field, but I hadn't talked to the land owner yet this year. It was a situation where I thought it would probably be OK, but I decided better safe than sorry. I watched as the buck and 4 does trotted off down the field. It was the right choice and I'm glad I did it that way, but it was awful hard to see them run off. I have now gotten permission to hunt that field this year. I'll be out this afternoon hoping to spot that big boy in the same field.

Good luck to everybody.

That's the kind of stuff that'l keep you coming back. I moved to Superior this year from Duluth and decided to give the Wisconsin muzzleloader hunt a try. haven't been out for about 10 years and it sure felt good to go back into the woods again. Had a small animal in the sights but it wouldn't stop jumping long enough for me to squeeze off a clean shot. But I know where they live and I'll be back this weekend!
