$150 to spend...What would you buy????

Okay guys. I just finished a woodcutting task for a family friend and he insisted on giving me $150. Couldn't get him to say no! Anyway, I have a vex, auger, house and plenty of gear, but I would like to add to my arsenal. I want to add a rod/reel combo for pannies and some jigs/line/acces. What should I get? I love a rod where the tip is light, but has some backbone and a reel with little to no play in it! I am open to any and all suggestions. Thanks for the info!! Ice is coming so hurried suggestions appreciated! Have a Happy Thanksgiving. Thorne brother rod... the Power Noodle has an ULTRA light tip and plenty of back bone.. the Panfish SweetHeart may be another option for you!... heck.. for $150 get one of each!

-New jigs - I'd look towards some of the new Hali jigs, these things are well thought-out in design - I've only seen these at Thorne Bros. so far this year

Me personally i would go through my stuff and look if I had all of my gear in good shape. Does anything need to be replaced? Blades in good shape, enough propane to start out, vex battery keeping charge, etc. I had stashed away about the same amount of money this year too and was planning on getting a thorne bros rod setup but after further inspection of my gear I decided that replacing some of my iffy worn out gear was more needed than getting a rod this year. I guess my point is check over your stuff and make sure everything else is in good shape and ready to go before you plop down the bills to get the rod and find out later that one of your other pieces of gear needed replacing first. I'm glad i checked first.

That is some dang good advice for all of us!!

I do my "typical" routine... new auger blades (every year!), new line on all reels, double check all the tackle and replace whats missing, lube reels if required, fill propane tanks, batteries in headlamps, lantern mantles, check lantern globes, check batteries in electronics, etc.

I also double check the truck, trailer, and snowmobiles to make sure we're good. New plugs in the sleds, make sure I've got oil with, spare tire for trailer, trailer lights working, etc, etc.

Now to get back on topic, if I had $150 to spend as a panfisherman...
