Ariens Snowblowers

Question

Does anyone have any feedback or experience with Ariens 2 stage snowblowers? We are looking at buying the ST5524E model and would appreciate any feebback.

My Dad had one he bought in 1975 and that thing still starts on pull #2 or #3.

The only brands of snowblowers that I have ever owned are Ariens and John Deere. I would rate them both about the same for quality and performance. My first one was a 5 hp 24" Ariens. The second one was an 8 hp 26" John Deere and I bought it three years old, used it for 14 years and got what I paid for it when I traded. I now own a 9 hp 26" Ariens and have had it for about 6 years. As long as you do the maintenance on them in the spring and fall, you should have no problems with either. I would suggest that you get the model with the cast gearcase and not the one that is two pieces bolted together because it has bearings instead of bushings like the two piece one has.

I looked at them and they looked cheaply built. I know of at least one dealer that quit selling JD blowers because of this.

Are you sure Murray doesnt make them and put a frontier badge on?

My wife is still bent out of shape because I bought an Ariens instead of a wally world el cheepo. I told her I would have bought one if we lived in south Florida. wink.gif
