Comfortable Portable stand?

Recommended Posts

I've used portable stands for years, but want the best of both worlds.I want a portable that is actually portable,(light enough to be moved once and awhile) and one you can sit in for a few hours without being to terribly uncomfortable. I do not want a climber, I want a hang on stand. what are your expieriences with different stands for comfort, portability, and price?

I personally have had an API Baby Grand Lite (12 lbs, big platform, nice seat cushion) that I can sit on all day. I wouldn't go anything much less than 24" x 30" for platform dimensions. And, a wide seat helps a lot - mine is 24".

It was $120 probably 6 years ago. I'm sure you could find something equally as comfortable now for under $100.

Gorilla silverback magnum. Most comfortable hang on stand I've sat in. Weighs in at 12 or 13 pounds. Pick up the optional foot rest and you are good for an all day sit.

I bought a Rivers Edge hang on stand about 6 years ago from Scheels in Fargo before I went to Montana.I wanted a alum one that I could back pack, light and comfortable.Since then I have hunted almost 100% in climbers.

The price was 90 clams back then on sale.Approx 11 pounds.

This weekend I was in North Dakota bow hunting and I ended up sitting in this stand again for the first time and cannot remember a stand that is as comfortable as this hang on.My climbers are more comfy but not by much.It also has a very nice elevated foot rest at the edge of the front.

I agree with Harvey on the Rivers Edge stands. I bought one last year because the price and weight couldn't be beat. Its a light hang-on with a pretty comfortable seat. I got mine from Fleet Farm and I'll probably get another one when they get cheaper around the firearms opener.

Lone Wolf stands, no questions asked, the lightest, most portable, dead quiet, most versitile (can put them in almost ANY tree you want - yes, even that crooked one that you've never been able to hang a normal stand in) easiest stand to hang that is sold on the market today. They are a little pricey, but for what you're getting it is worth it. These hang on stands will NOT make noise - period. No creaking, popping, etc like you get with all other metal stands over time. Check them out. I think you'll like it.
