Eric Wettschreck
Get rid of Ryan???? I'll have what Mittys havin. The payroll that Ryan is given to work with pretty much consists of 5 bucks and a pack of smokes so he can't go buy other teams good players like NY can. Trade and develop through the minor leagues is his deal and so far it's worked pretty darn well.
fishyguy
Sorry Mitty, but I am going to have to pile on with this one also. Ryan did make his mistakes but who wouldn't when you have a garage sale budget. Here are some other garage sale items he picked up that were not drafted by the team.SantanaBonserNathanLirianoTynerStewartReyesRedmondPuntoSilva (he has more good years than bad)CastilloThat is all I got off the top of my head. buzzsaw
I'll come to Mitty's defense..... What you guys don't know is that he was under heavy medication the day he wrote that statement, you see Ambien and Jack Daniels had a negative impact on his cerebral cortex and he would like to retract any negative comments towards Terry Ryan as well as let everybody know he is feeling better and will post again shortly. Willy
I'm a TR backer too, but I think more credit needs to go to our scouts and minor league directors/managers/coaches/etc. They are the guys that are out there watching, signing, coaching, and developing the young studs that we see on the field today. No other team in recent memory had churned out more good players from within their system than the Twins. TR and the boys are doing something right. CNY Tim
You guys by all accounts are in the toughest division in baseball with a powerful young nucleus of talent that I see in the long run paying off in a big way. This is an outsider looking in. If I'm a Twins fan I am amped up for 2007 season to get underway. Stay the course and rely on your young horses they will develop that swagger. The post season although it was a quick exit I see entirely way more positives overall for next season and they will be more hungry to atone for there first round bump in the road. Keep your heads up you don't need much at all and in the heart department these kid's showed it big time. It's a tough division, the toughest in baseball. Detroit, Minnesota, Chicago, Cleveland and even the Royals that showed improvement late. To come out of that division with a title from as many games as you guys were back before the break is a feat that is rarely witnessed. Twins fans should be licking there chops for 2007 season to start, this could be the fruition year for them.
Willy
Thanks Tim. I agree with you 100%. Nice to hear it from the outside though. I think we set a few records winning the division this year with that comeback. I believe we will make the playoffs next year but anything can happen. I'm sure we'll be alot of people's preseason WS champion pick. Not sure I like that. The last time that happened, we ended up in 3rd place. Honestly, watch out for KC next year. I know they don't have a ton of talent, but they played everybody tough at the end of their season this year. With the WhiteSox I'm sure adding a few more players and if Cleveland improves their pitching staff, there will be NO easy wins in the Central next year.
