SureFire flashlights, are they that good ?

Valv

Question

I would like to hear some input about SureFure flashlights.

I was looking at catalogues and their web site the range from $ 59 to $ 279 !!!!! What do you get from a $ 279 unit that a standard MagLite cannot give you ?

Price seems a little TOO high to me....

They pack an incredible amount of light into a small package. It is worth every penny if you need the light for hunting or fishing. The one thing I noticed is you can see the beam ten feet away in a well lit building. That is bright.

They are very high quality and pack a punch of light. They were originally designed for tactical use in the Army or Swat teams. The only drawback that I hear is that they are very hard on batteries. Not the kind of flashlight for the average use.

Surefire flashlights are "ok"..but not worth the price...in my opinion. I own three... one regular and two tactical. Don’t get me wrong..they are nice..but I found they often left a dark shadow in the middle of what you are trying to illuminate......and the run time is just horrible.

If you are willing to spend that sorta money on a flash light...I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND buying one made by “Inova” called the “T4". It is by far the best flashlight I have ever owned. I may not know much in life...but trust me...I use my flashlight more often than most...spend half the year working nights....and this thing gets a workout.

The T4 is a 4watt (100 lumen LED output) rechargeable LED light with over a two hour constant burn time. It has an aluminum body and gives off a “white” light with no shadows. I think they cost somewhere between 100 and 150.00 dollars. They are worth checking out.....

You can get a SureFire for as little as 39.99.

Yes, they are as good as you've heard. Cliffy is refering to an LED light. If that's what you want, his suggestion is a good one.

But oooh-wheee. You can darn near fry an egg on a SureFire.

Watch the bulbs on some of the Surefires, at least the older models. They are a bit fragile.I have a Surefire, and it doesn't do anything more that one of my Streamlights can take care of.IMHO, they are a bit overpriced for the outdoorsman who will probably use it for just general use,vs.someone in law enforcement/military that is using it for work.

Ok, I am a little confused. I had posted a pic in my earlier response. I now see there is a note from the admn. asking me to review the policy and my pic has been removed. I don’t get it. I was not selling anything..just giving my opinion on a product..etc. The pic was to show what I was talking about. I reviewed the policy...perhaps I am missing something....Could some explain where I had gone wrong.??....
