Homemade scent killer recipe

If I remember correctly,someone posted a homemade scent killer recipe last year.I can't find it in a search.Does anyone have it and if so,could you please repost it?

here you go...

16oz Peroxide

16oz distilled water

1/4cup Baking Soda

1oz non-Scent shampoo

Mix very lightly otherwise you will have a mess and let sit for 24 hours... Done!

Cabelas sell many different types along with other sporting good stores.

they had the same formula in field and stream except they used 1/2 cup baking soda. You should be able to find no-scent shampoo at any outdoors store, i know i have seen it at Gander Mountain.

yes I use this stuff, like its going out of style... Believe it or not.. I use it on my gym shoes, we use it when one of our cats pees on the carpet.. its ike magic!... I will give you one hint.. try and get the baking powder to disolve in the water first before you add the peroxide and the soap. And when you let the stuff sit, be sure to not put a cap on it... I then just put it in a spray bottle.

How much money are you really saving and is it really worth the time? just curious

Well I can make a gallon of the stuff for about $2.50 and I go thought about 12 spray bottles of this a year by letting my dad and brother and friends use it when we go in the wood and They love the stuff and I also swear by it so it probally saves me about $80 a year. Last year I spent about $15 to make it and I made like I said about 12 bottles (or more. Figure that if You buy the stuff it is $8 per bottle (just a guess) That is $96 I would have spent. Plus this way you to not get skimpy with it and spray down good with it.

Well, Distilled water may cost you $1 a gallon?.. maybe a little more.. peroxide, maybe another $1... The baking soda I always just have laying around the house anyway, same as no scent shampoo.. and I have always felt scent killer was very expensive... so I didn't use very much to save money.. Now I figure I can make a gallon of it for like what?... $3... I think you are saving a ton... and if mixing 4 ingredients is trouble... then buy the stuff...I figgure it took me about 5 mins to mix it up?

Just curious does that fade the stuff you put it on. I wouldnt assume so i was just checking. Have to whip some up i bought a bottle of scent killer for 9 bucks. Kinda high, but i feel it helps.

I have not noticed any fading to my clothes.. but I will not guarentee anything...

I have an R/O(reverse osmosis)system in my house.Do you think the water from this would substitute for distilled?

Dehumidifier water works in place of distilled water. I used hydrogen peroxide that came from a liquid non clorinated shock for pools and hot tubs. I read the stuff in the brown bottles has something else in it that can reduce it's effectiveness. I used the green liquid body soap instead of laundry soap and it bubbled up quite a bit. The green stuff has an active ingredient that inhibits bacteria growth.

The recipe I saw is:

1 quart distilled H20

1 quart 3% H10

1 oz. liquid scent free laundry soap

1/4 cup baking soda

I wanted to save a few pennys so I went to the local dollar store and found every thing but the sent free soap.

baking soda 2 for a buck

peroxide 2 for a buck

distilled water 1 gallon a buck

sent free laundry soap 6.53 bucks

mix time 5-7 min

if this works and I score the monster buck its "priceless"

Is the baking soda suppose to clump up after it sits a couple of days or should I add more distilled 02. I stirred it up and it seamed to disolve again I'll check it in a day or two, to see what its like. I follow the directions to a tee, except doubling it
