If you could, where would you stock muskies?

One of the problems is that some of the lakes that are stocked with muskies now don't get the full quota they are slated for. Adding more lakes would just make it worse. BTW the state has outsourced most of the muskie growing to the private aquaculturists. So buying more is not the answer. Either is growing more. Walleyes are taking up many of the ponds the state has used for muskies in the past. Long story short, what you see is what you get for the time being.

I would love to see them stocked in green lake by spicer. They are already there in small numbers. I know I know I can hear they walleye guys blood starting to boil. But come on do the walleye guys get every lake in Mn? They have wrecked every good shallow duck lake in southern Mn by stocking eyes and areoateing them. Can't we have a dozen more lakes with ski's stocked in it.

Ottertail is a good choice. It has alot of good monster cabbage patches, Tons of structure, a huge forage of ciscoes, and tons of perch. And the acreage to sustain a nice population. All of the northerns that I pull out of there are good size with 20 lbers not uncommon. Also there are some skis that swim in from West Battle. Last but not least, they stock 2 million walleye fry a year that will only see 14 inches anyway. Perfect eating size wink.gif
