I dunno, he got a top ten and clinched a playoff..er ..chase spot. not too shabby.

He is in trouble though. I saved him for the last races for fantasy league, he will probably be jinxed now hehe. Go Matt #17!

It's a good win for the 17. Nice to see, and they earned it well.

But...

The Bristol Night race does NOT hold my attention much anymore. This is the 3rd year in a row where everyone pretty much stays in the low groove and the bumps and bruises taken are "mostly" by those that are not in the chase or close to it. The main cautions were due to tires going flat, or set-up issues with a particular car. There really were not any cars that were "helped" around to hit the wall unless the car was already out of shape.

This race has become one where those who are in the chase run nice and easy to protect themselves from losing points (don't get me wrong...it's smart and definitely the right thing to do as a driver) and the others don't want to be branded as someone who took out one of those top 10 drivers (or any of the teams close to being in).

Not much really happened in that race at all...pretty much stay in line and turn left. Gain spots in pit strategy.... I don't think this race is worth putting too much emphasis on anymore. It will not make much difference in the entire chase to the chase since everyone just goes in there to come out clean and unscathed.

The days of the drivers bumping, grinding and pushing are done at this race.

I have to agree with you VMS, it just wasn't what it used to be. It was about as exciting as watching a slotcar race. I actually got so bored watching it, I worked on some designs for work while watching the race. It had some "o0h-ah" moments, like when the entire wheel came off of 07 car of Clint Bowyer. Whatever was found to be the cause? Cracked wheel (found in the Busch race fri. night), or ? confused.gif I wasn't paying 100% attention anymore at that time. smirk.gif

At least there wasn't a moment in the cup race like there was Fri. night in the Busch race. It didn't look good at first for Tim Sauter! Thankfully he was ok, and the safety equipt. in the car did it's job! wink.gif

love the comments!!

Meaney, don't get me wrong-I was happy for Kenseth! It was great for him to get a weekend sweep at Bristol! If that doesn't boost a team, I don't know what will!

For it to be like the Bristol of old they need to move this race in to the chase or a few weeks back from where it sits in the schudle now.

This may bring back the racing of the old days with the banging and bumping. grin.gif

And yes the 17 had the car to beat.

I for one thought it was a good race, with a great ending!

As far as the lack of Demolition Derby Style racing that we are accustomed to at Bristol, I think what we saw is everyone beening a tad bit more respectful. With the Chase drivers so close in points, I dought any of the drivers wanted to be "THE ONE" that took out a driver going for the Chase.......unless it was going to be for the win.

It is really to bad Kenseth didn't run the Trucks.......could have broke out the BIG BROOM @ Bristol!!! blush.gif
