Recommended Posts

Just wondering how the bait sites are going? any activity? Is anybody having any luck with thier bait sites in no quota area in Pine county? I will be heading up this week end to start mine, a little late but with gas prices the way they are you gotta cut someplace

Good luck everybody

I don't hunt by Pine City but I have had action on my baits by Bemidji. I started baiting on the first day, had two hits, then four hits, and now I have all six of my baits getting hit. I wasn't planning on that many baits getting hit but hey, better than none. So 6 for 6 as of today. Got some cool pics on my trail camera to. Good Luck.

We've only been hit by one small bear. I too thought that baiting would be great this year with the long hot summer and diminished natural forage, but it appears, at least so far, that "hits" are down significantly from last year for almost everyone. I'm counting on it getting better as the weather cools. Lets' keep our fingers crossed.

So how close do you guys have baits? We are 100% so far but it took a while for 2 of them to get found. Cannot wait until the phone call tomorrow to hear the results of the last few days.

We have baits that are at least a mile apart. That is on the gps. So the over the ground distance is a lot more and there is significant terrain between.

big walleye 22, where'd you run into the guide, I bumped into one last week by Outing who also said he runs 70 baits, he was a nice guy, but come on, how can that be fair for the average hunter to have to compete with??

Come on DNR, get a clue...

So 70 baits would take a HUGE amount of time and gas money to bait to attract different bears. I suppose that some of them are close enough to give the same bears different stands to go to to eat. If they are bumped off of one then the hunter goes to another?
