ducksnbucks
I don't hunt by Pine City but I have had action on my baits by Bemidji. I started baiting on the first day, had two hits, then four hits, and now I have all six of my baits getting hit. I wasn't planning on that many baits getting hit but hey, better than none. So 6 for 6 as of today. Got some cool pics on my trail camera to. Good Luck.

Jeremiah Johnson
baiting should be good this year, i just read that the berry crop is poor due to the dry weather, i'll be helping my buddy in bemidji here in the next week
CANOPY SAM
We've only been hit by one small bear. I too thought that baiting would be great this year with the long hot summer and diminished natural forage, but it appears, at least so far, that "hits" are down significantly from last year for almost everyone. I'm counting on it getting better as the weather cools. Lets' keep our fingers crossed.
seamonster1
9/15 baits going everyday. 3 others are iffy, but for sure bears. Kindoff expected this- as there was NO natural food expect some usual bunchies.
big_walleye22
put out 5 baits for the 3 of us last week end, won't be back till sunday, can't wait to see if we have action,Talked to a guide and his hits has been scattered, but then he's got 70 baits, wished the DNR would limit this
Swamp Scooter
So how close do you guys have baits? We are 100% so far but it took a while for 2 of them to get found. Cannot wait until the phone call tomorrow to hear the results of the last few days. We have baits that are at least a mile apart. That is on the gps. So the over the ground distance is a lot more and there is significant terrain between.
gorrilla
big walleye 22, where'd you run into the guide, I bumped into one last week by Outing who also said he runs 70 baits, he was a nice guy, but come on, how can that be fair for the average hunter to have to compete with??Come on DNR, get a clue... big_walleye22
guide I talked to is north of northome, answer to swamp scooter, I try to place my baits no closer as the crow flies than 1 mile, bears will travel for food
Swamp Scooter
So 70 baits would take a HUGE amount of time and gas money to bait to attract different bears. I suppose that some of them are close enough to give the same bears different stands to go to to eat. If they are bumped off of one then the hunter goes to another?
