Does Anyone Else Not Use A String Release???

I have never use a string release before but I am thinking about giving one a try. I am a little concerned that I won't like shooting with a release. Just wondering how many of you guys still shoot the "old fashioned" way?

A buddy of mine used to shoot the old way and he switched this year and he has been pleased with the change.

shot "fingers" the last two years bought a release this past weekend and already notice a huge difference in my accuracy, i absolutely love it. the one i bought you can either pull the trigger or relax the trigger to fire the bow. I like the latter at this time, cuz i think it helps me to not change too many motions while shooting

Owen, hunted for 15 years with fingers then switched to a release 15 years ago. I'll never go back. Here are some things that come to mind.

1. It used to take me a week of 100 arrow days to get consistant at 25 yards... Now I can pick up the bow after 9 months and be shooting bullseyes from the start.

2. No more "plucking the string" causing erratic flight.

3. Much more consistant flight from one arrow to the next.

4. Easier to hold at full draw if you have the right release.

5. I recommend the "Wynn Free Flite" release. I've tried at least a half dozen and this works best for me because the weight of the hold is distributed behind the hand and also in the palm of the hand by your grip.

6. Because you can hold easier you can also hold longer if needed to wait for the perfect shot at full draw.

A couple years ago I set up one of my bows with all the bells and whistles and started using a release (I had been shooting fingers for about ten years) and after a year of shooting I went back to fingers. My grouping was a little better with the release but I never got use to feel of it; seemed like the release, sight and peep or kisser (I tried both) just got in the way of what was always a pretty natural process for me. I have sence gone to a bare bones recurve and love it.

It sure wouldn't hurt to try a release; if you like it you would still have a month to practice befor bow opener.

I had never used a release till this year, and i will never go back to fingers.

I use a T.R.U. Nok with peep aligner that works great for me. It is made out of aluminum and is positioned on your string for easy release connection. It also aligns my peep sight perfectly. Some people don't like it because they say the extra weight slows your arrow down, but when I shot a nervous doe last year she didn't even notice!

I also used a TRU Nok when I was shooting a release. It was a slick set up, I just never got used to it.
