New dirt track

I was told someone was trying to get it done and it has passed the locals to get put up.I just have not heard who is doing it or when they will start.I heard this at two different other tracks by numerous racers.

So,the question is ,is it a huge rumor or fact?

There was an article in the Mankato paper last month on this. I can't remeber all the details, but they were trying to get a 3/8 mile "D" shaped track built on the Southwest side of town. The local township was ok with it, but apparently the usual town naysayers showed up at the town meeting already complaining about the dust , noise, ect.. even though it was going to be a mile or so outside the city limits. I believe that they had most of the permits required by the State, but they didn't have approval for the potential pollution and such. I think it's pretty much a dead issue , but they might try again next year now that the group knows what they have to do.

As a racer sometimes I just dont understand why so many citizens are agaisnt a race track in thier area. They pay taxes, racer spend a fair amount of money in the town.It does offer some small jobs for some locals.I do agree that there is some noise but the louder cars are muffled so they try as much as possible to control that.

Arlington locals have been trying for years to get this track shut down but they dont have any luck. The races are almost always over by 11pm.You can travel to Iowa and find tracks all over the state yet Minnesota is always against it.

Why? frown.gif

Hey that area sure could use a track. There is a huge gap between Arlington and Kasson which is I think the next dirt track you can find going East from Arlington...and then down to Fairmont going South, and I don't even know where going North. Pretty big hole there I always thought.

Thanks for the update K9 ! Like I said , I couldn't remember everything and I really hope it goes through. It would be nice to have a track there and it should attract all the Mankato and New Ulm boys and give us racers up here another option other than Fairmont. Nothing personal against the Fairmont crew, they run a really good show, just with the gas prices and such it is alot easier on the wallet to tow for one hour rather than two.

You got that right. A two hour pull each way takes up most of your winnings with $3 gas. What size were they thinking for the track by the way? 3/8 1/2 1/4 or what??? Also, have they thought as far ahead as sanctioning of the car classes yet?
