I've had remingtons since day one. First an 870 and then an 1187 about 6 years ago. I have no complaints on the gun at all. It has never jammed on me and I am not too diligent on cleaning during the hunting season. I like the gun.

Here's my view of 1187's. There where lots of them made and sold, who knows how many, so you know there will some lemons out there as with any product made, but what I am trying to say is that all the press you hear about them is the people who complain when they have a problem with there jamington! And nothing about the positive! I have an 1187 Supermag and love it! I had to replace the o-ring once after a ja-billion shots with 3 1/2" shells shooting at spring snow geese and since then (4 years ago) I haven't any problems to speak of.

I have been shooting Remington 1100's, 870's, and 1187's since 1972 and feel they are an extention of my shooting rather than just a gun. I just love shooting Remingtons. grin.gif

That's odd that you've heard that 11-87's are bad. I have never heard anything bad said about the 11-87, nor have I ever seen any bad reviews on it in this forum.

About half of the people I hunt with shoot an 11-87. Most have had one for years and still love the gun.

I'm sure it's just the jealous Browing guys talking trash again smirk.gif

I'm shooting a hand-me-down 1187 I got from my dad. This gun has been great for me in the 4 years I've had it. It's been shot 1000's and 1000's of times at sporting clay league and in the duck ponds. Still works great and kills ducks!

Lawdog, I just bursted out laughing in my office! Okay, okay, you got me good!

But, if you read any of my posts about the 870, you'll quickly realize that I am way more passionate about that gun. I'm pretty sure we are both on the same terms when the pump gun debate comes up wink.gif

I guess I really haven't heard of many people complaining about an 11-87 jamming. The most popular complaints are about broken o-rings and that they are heavy. As far as the o-rings breaking. It's rare for this to happen unless the gas ports are too sharp or the ring itself is very old and brittle, besides you can buy 6 backup o-rings for $7.50 on hsolist. Oh my God backup o-rings whatever am I going to do! I'll have to replace my o-ring once every five years or so. Just check your o-ring whenever you clean your gun and carry a spare. It's just a matter of being prepared. As far as the 11-87 being heavy, if you can't carry around an 8lb gun for a few hours you should take up ballroom dancing. I think most of the complaints are from people that think if it doesn't cost over $800.00 it can't be a good gun. These people tend to look down their nose at the name stamped on the gun rather than look down the rib at whatever game is in front of them. I'll put my 11-87's up against anybody's guns any day and under any conditions.

Agree on the last post. I have shot the same 11-87 for over 10 years and would get another one. As long as you keep it clean you'll do fine. I haven't found a gun that fits me better than that.
