Slyster
OK.. so on these HOTTEST of days... and sunny to boot... and water temps probably 83+ by now.. I am going out to WBL Monday from perhaps 4-9.. what's my game plan?... I think I'll try deep outside weedlines with plastics is my best guess... perhaps 12-15 fow? Perhaps a jig-n-pig dragging across the bottom? Maybe up shallow with plastics under docks? Or topwaters? I also know of a bunch of weedy 12'-15' humps surrounded by 30' of water.. might have to try there too... perhaps a few crankbaits gliding over the humps? Not sure.. I'm thinking the bass could be VERY slow these days... Anyone have any insights on what to try? I sure wish I could get out to your "Finding and Triggering Summertime Fish" Matt at Gander (the holy mountain) but I just can't.. scheduled family commitments... argg! RobertELee
You hit it on the nose, also try ribbontail worms t-rigged and a creature bait like a brushhog or sweet beaver. If you don't get any fish using the crankbait around the humps and you do see fish on your depth finder try a slower presentation like the worm or creature bait, it can be deadly. Good luck and report to us how you did.

Fishin4Life
I was out on Sunday, also a very windy day. Very hot and a bit stormy at times in the morning when I was out, but I managed a couple bass and two pike. They were a bit slow though. It was hard to stay on a spot in my little boat. I gave up at about 1pm after getting shoved around for 5 hours.
Captain B.R.K
Fishing was excellent on Saturday with the hot/windy conditions. Fish were located near the bullrushes in the early morning. Then when the winds picked up, they were hanging tight to a weed edge on the wind swept shorelines.
Slyster
Not going out on Wed as I need to watch the kiddies all day and evening. They DO go out fishing with me once in a while.. but for a shorter time.. after a few hours it gets ugly. And when I go out.. I like to make it worthwhile like 6-8 hours. Slyster
Well.. I can hardly believe it.. but 7 long hours (2-9pm) one beautiful WBL... and most of that time cloudy.. with a good chop... FOUR bass. FOUR! Not sure what's up.. if it's just me or was it just SLOW? Mainly used senko's and tubes, and cranks.. DT5... many area's from shallow rocks to 18 feet. Crazy. Could it have been the time? I wonder how the 5am-noon timeslot would have done? Still fun to just be on the water anyway!

Bullwinkle
Quote: Could it have been the time? Sly, I'm with you. I was out from 12-5 and only caught four also . Couldn't get a bass to save my life but I will tell you the sunfish couldn't leave my t-rigged trickworm alone. I saw that Deitz boated 41 by noon ... I need a day like that! See ya on the water. Slyster
Deitz.. unreal numbers there! Was this 41 fish up north or a more local lake? What depths and tecnique and cranks did you use? Great job.
Deitz Dittrich
Sly- NorthEast Metro lake... semi stained body of water 7 foot deep weedline. I was throwing a shallow crank(3-4 foot dive) and bunring it(it was a Cabelas Dig'it).. the other crank dives to about 8 feet and it was crawfish color.. Action Lures Squeel'R.As far as technique.. I would reel it quite fast then sudden stop.. for a very short time then start the fast retrieve again.. its called a stop and go.
Fishin4Life
Deitz - How do those Dig-it work for ya? I see they produce fish. I was looking at buying a bunch of them due to the cheeper price (seeing how my fishing tally is about $800 this year already, LOL, gotta love expense reports in quicken, haha). Deitz Dittrich
F4L- To be real honest with you.. I think they are probably the best value in a crankbait right now...Veru affordable and I really like the action.. expecially of the shallow diver...
