TBM,

BDR has you pointed in the right direction. They are both quality flashers with a ton of features. You will have to base your decision upon what you are looking for. I had to do the same last year, for me, that turned out to be the Marcum LX-3. I definately made the right choice for me. Good luck with whatever you decide to go with.

What do you guys think of the Lowrance x63c the digital color screen? I didn't know to much about flashers so I can use all the help I can get. This is the one flasher a budy of mine owns I've seen it in action. I was also thinking of checking out the St. Paul Ice Fishing Show and taking a look at the diffrent models and makes so Please put me on the right Track. Has anyone herd when the St. Paul Ice Fishing Show is planned? Thank you.

Don't worry about not know much about flashers they are easy to figure out, I'd personally go with a Marcum flasher, or even a vexilar long before the lowrance one, Though I haven't used that particular model the "regular" flashers work great. Check out the thread that's linked in this post, pretty much it's a ford vs. chevy battle, both build great products, you can't go wrong with a marcum or a vex IMHO. I've had the non -believes fishing next to me, and I could tell my buddy was about to get bit, got his attention, and pointed it out to him, he's sold on a flasher.

If its your 1st flasher and your looking to get by as cheaply as possible I would go to Vexilar and get a reconditioned FL-8. If you have the money to spend I would either get a Fl-18 Pro Pack or a Marcum LX-3 like mine. I love the ability to lock into different water levels. Especially when laker and crappie fishing. Plus I have no problems with interfierence from other units.

The Vexilar units are great. I've been using the Lowrance X68 Ice Machine which is surprisingly accurate for a LCD Graph. But you can switch it to Flasher mode if you really need the feel. I've noticed it does have problems with interference from other units. But the only time I noticed that was at the Brainerd Jaycees extravaganza....14,000 people on the ice and I'm sure quite a few had flashers so that settles as an excuse. But overall which ever unit you get I'm sure you will be very happy with. Heck, as far as flashers go I still use quite often my old Zercom Clearwater Classic.

I think that vexilar or marcum would both work great for you but it you want to put it on your boat in the open water season, go with the X67 Lowrance, It work great for both seasons, the only negative that was mentioned before is the lack of interference rejection. Good Luck AJ

I'd go with the LX3 or LX1 for these reasons:

1. More power and better target separation, you can see your targets better.

2. Easier to read because it has a brighter crisper display

3. 20 degree ducer gives you a bigger view of the water column combine that with the 1500 watts of power and you see more of what's down there.

4. 2 year warranty

5. The 1500 watts of power will make a huge difference when fishing deep water. If you fish deep the Marcums are the deal.

6. Interference rejection knocks out interference from other nearby sonars.

The LX3 also has zoom any where in the water column feature, a DCS charger that keeps the battery charged to the correct level, a digital display for reading battery power and a really nice carry case that holds some gear to.

Good luck!
