I read the St. Paul Pioneer press this morning and it said Liriano was winning. If AJ goes over Liriano it's s joke! I don't think that will happen, besides Liriano will help Ozzie win more than AJ will and thats important to him for homefield advantage if the Sox make it back to the WS.

JOKE!!!!!!!!!!!

CHICAGO -- White Sox catcher A.J. Pierzynski edged out Minnesota rookie pitcher Francisco Liriano for the final AL All-Star spot, while NL batting leader Nomar Garciaparra earned the last NL slot Thursday in fan voting on the Internet.

AL manager Ozzie Guillen will now have seven of his own Chicago players on the roster.

Pierzynski, a catalyst as the White Sox won the World Series last year, is hitting .326 with five home runs and 28 RBI. Liriano also got strong support after going 9-1 with a 1.99 ERA.

Pierzynski finished ahead of Liriano, the Indians' Travis Hafner, the Tigers' Justin Verlander and the Orioles' Ramon Hernandez.

Garciaparra tops the NL in hitting at .359, with 10 home runs and 49 RBI. In his first year with the Los Angeles Dodgers, he's playing first base.

Garciaparra finished ahead of the Brewers' Chris Capuano, 2004 Final Vote winner Bobby Abreu of the Phillies, the Mets' Billy Wagner and the Padres' Chris Young.

The All-Star Game will be Tuesday night in Pittsburgh. The rosters were announced Sunday, except for the last two players to be picked in fan voting on the Internet.

Francisco Liriano became only the second rookie to head into the All-Star break with at least 10 wins and a sub-2.00 ERA. The other was Jerry Koosman of the Mets; he headed into the 1968 All-Star break with a record of 11-4 and an ERA of 1.94.

I think Guillen should do the right thing and leave Beach baller Buehrle at home and take a real pither.

Here's why

Liriano 10-1 1.83 102k .201

Buerhle 9-6 4.02 54k .279

We all know either Mussina, Verlander, Liriano, Schilling should be there instead.

Sled,

Riddle me this, my friend, what was Liriano doing last year at about this time??? What was Mark Buerhle doing last year about this time??? Aside from leading his team to a World Series sweep and also saving a game in the World Series he found a little spare time to pitch in the All Star game. By the by, how did he end up doing in the All Star game last year??? I THINK HE WON THE GAME! Case Closed. Liriano has had a few good months, do a little more and maybe he gets in next year, otherwise he will be bagging groceries at the Piggly Wiggly! Buehrle is an All Star by every definition and YOU CAN PUT IT ON THE BOARD...YES! Windy

I may be living in the past but if you guys believe what you are saying then you are living in a dream world. The hot players almost never get into the All Star game. It has been a disturbing trend for the past 5-10 years and just looks bad to you this year because it is the White Sox who are doing the dirty deal. Usually it is the BoSox and Yankees that are getting crammed down our throats with mediocre records, fair to middlin batting averages and so so performances while "our guys" here in the midwest get hosed. Come on guys, get on board and cheer for the midwest, we are getting our shot this year against the ESPN crew. YOU CAN PUT IT ON THE BOARD...YES! Windy

Breaking news boyz!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Francisco Liriano is going to the All-Star Game after all.

The Twins' rookie left-hander, who was beat out by White Sox catcher A.J. Pierzynski for the final AL All-Star spot in Internet voting Thursday, got the nod to replace Chicago right-hander Jose Contreras on Monday.

Contreras pitched against the Red Sox on Sunday, allowing three runs on four hits and striking out six in six innings of the White Sox's 6-5, 19-inning win. On the season, the right-hander is 9-0 with a 3.38 ERA.

In 22 games this season, Liriano is 10-1 with 102 strikeouts and leads the majors with a 1.83 ERA.

A little suspicious that Ozzie Guillen chose rival Twins Liriano at the last minute to allow his own pitcher to rest from the All-star game. Liriano was exhausted from the last minute trip and didn't even get to pitch. Maybe the honor was worth it to Liriano, but you have to wonder if it will cost us an upcoming game against Cleveland. Nice last minute cover-up for a flawed All-star voting system.
