See Mark, you are already growing attached to it, calling it your "little friend"! I've been thinking about this all morning......what to entice her with. Maybe downsizing to something like a 6 inch Reef Hawg? I wish you luck! By the way, nice of the kids to not tell you about the monster living there for the past few weeks! grin.gif

Hey Buzz, I'll see you at the Stanley household dock tonight! wink.gif

I heard that he has hired a couple "muskie bouncers" to sit on the end of the dock and be the fish's bodyguard!!

Working on clearing the calendar as we speak......I'll let you know tomorrow. Work gets in the way of everything!

Been out on Tonka twice in the past 2 weeks. Fished the inside and outside of the milfoil. Tried bars, points, deep, shallow. Only 2 follows to show for it. frown.gif Hope everyone else is having better luck.

Try Musky Innovation's Realfish. They have a perch, walleye, sucker, and bullhead. Those things looks more real than any lure I've ever seen.

My pet is either in deep sulk or has decided to upgrade to a bigger dock. The plethora of decent largemouth has also ended. Nothing happened in 30 minutes of flinging stuff (it's all the time I had). Major bummer. Was fun while it lasted and maybe just maybe it isn't over yet. The huge school of sunnies is still there but I'm not too hopeful. Water temp hit 81 and that's usually the sign to look for deeper water.

We picked up 7 LMBass yesterday, on an assortment of plugs, nothing big, maybe 2 pounds at best. We casted and trolled for muskies....nada, not even a follow...never even seen one roll in about 6 hours of fishing.

Have you tried rigging your favorite Muskie surface/shallow bait to sink? I've tried rigged Carolina style using big egg weights or a couple of old rusty plow nuts covered in packing tape with single hooks, spinners, or even topwaters. Remove the treble hooks and install two...you know...change it up. I've had some muskie success with big bass-style Carolina rigs in the milfoil.

Minnetonka is full of big Muskies; don't you love it?!!

Hey there. In reading over your frustrations in trying to hook that big 'skie next to your dock, Its my belief and I have read of it to that muskies we see lolling in the shallows are there digesting.(in warmer water) which is why there difficult to catch and ignore anglers offerings. If you really want to hook into that fish take note of when its not around and then fish the nearby potential spots. Like where the closest forage is or schools of fish. Odds are the fish has found a nearby food source and a place to digest it. Eventually you will catch it. Big fish will always opt for the largest, easiest available meal with expending the least amount of energy

Any updates from Minnetonka or has the warm water shut down everyone's fishing activity? I was thinking of hitting it on Thursday evening. I may have a seat open if anyone is interested.

I was out Saturday and we were basically looking for new area's to work and came up with three more prime spots for Muskie and big Pike. I also boated over to Marks house, but when I reached him on the phone he couldn't come out and play. The water temp was 80 degree's at Marks dock and other area's were not far behind. Here's a view from my day.

Buzz you ought to give up fishing entirely grin.gif. Those photos are great. And next time call me in the AM so I can rearrange my schedule! I did slip out yesterday but with water temps over 80 degrees I elected to leave the muskies alone.

Thanks Mark, I plan on getting out there on Saturday or Sunday morning depending on the weather... I need good light to get good pictures, unfortunately overcast is better for fishing. I would like to spend some time scouting the lake and working new area's as I'm committed to looking for new area's on that lake... I've been stuck in the same old rut of fishing my same spots on Wayzata Bay, Fergusons, Big Island, Browns and a few other major points on the lake... I'm specifically looking for cabbage near rocks/sand so I can nail that 50+ later in the year. Here are a few more for your gazing pleasure.

Cupper,

Just sent you an email. I forgot I have my son's last baseball game of the season Thursday. I coach and we have a party planned for afterwards. That would put me til 9 pm or after getting out, so we better reschedule. I will shoot you an e-mail if I can make it out next week.

Ever heard of castaic baits its a hard plastic head w/a soft body. They make a sunfish in the 4-5 inch range. It is the most realistic bait you will find both looks and action. I have had a lot of success with them for big northern and musky
