GottaGo
Early this spring I was doing some trout fishing with my neoprenes on and kicked a stick just right and put about a 3" gash in the rubber boot of my waders. Does anybody know a good way to patch this up? I tried using an all purpose patch, and it fell off after walking around in the waders for a little bit, maybe it was just a wrong type of patch? kc0myy
Umm let me ask my friend Pete. He puts in docks and takes them out. He repairs waders alot. Is the gash in rubber boot or on the waders?
GottaGo
The hole is in the rubber boot, that's what's giving me the problem. It would be great if your body had any tips on fixing it. Thanks
wooduck26
I tore a hole in my neoporenes a few years ago on a Beaver chew the size of a golf ball...litterally, and used a product called "Aqua Seal" and it has not leaked a drop.......I HIGHLY recommend it...... bigdog
If the tear is in the rubber boot, get a tire patch kit from an auto supply or FF. Sand or scuff the area that the patch will cover with 150 grit paper, spread the adhesive and apply the patch per instructions. Then roll over the patch with something - I use a spline roller that's used for installing window screen.
Swamp Scooter
The Sportsman's Goop is a fantastic product. It dries fast and seals things right up. You can also get in a big enough tube to have enough left over for future use. Not very expensive either for the price of the waders.
Tyler Holm
I did the exact same thing and I took them to a tire shop and they patched it with a tire patch on both the inside and outside of the boot. It's been that way for 3+ years and no problems yet.
ikeslayer
i use aqua seal on the rubber stuff as well the stuff is unreal. I use it on things other than waders too. The problem with rubber patches in my experience is that they don't take the cold very well. i have them come off when walking through ice or just when they get wet and ice forms on it i have had them come off. Not a problem if you don't hunt in icey conditions but those are my favorite times!!! ike
Gordie
I gashed a hole in my chest waders and used shoe goo (awsome stuff) hasnt leaked for 8 years.I also carry a tube in hunting bag all the time just in case.. I had no luck patching with tire patch or several other attemped things. hope this helps. I think WallMart carrys it .
Wade Joseph
I use neoprene waders so the regular rubber patches don;t work. GOOP and Shoe Goo are the two best methods I have found.
