FM Bass Fishing Event Announcement

Ray Esboldt

Recommended Posts

When: August 12th, 2006 from 6:30 AM to 1:30 PM

Where: Forest Lake, from a yet to be determined launch site.

What is it: Well, it's a bass fishing event of sorts. However, this will be more of a club style event emphasizing fun and learning instead of just competition and money. As long as you have a partner, the time to fish, and a livewell that can support 6 fish, you are invited. We're going to keep it small and limit things to 15 boats.

Here's how we are going to do this. Since I have no desire to process entry fees in advance of the event, I am going to rely on your good faith. If you tell me you're coming to the event, I expect you are coming. Now, just in case the demand for this exceeds 15 boats, I will begin accepting email commitments (one person per team) at 9:00 AM on Tuesday June 27th in the order I receive them. If I receive yours before that, you go to the end of the list. I will process boats beyond number 15 as waiting list entries. So, I also expect that if you cannot make it, you will let me know so someone else can fill your spot. Easy enough, I hope.

My email address is bornofice at yahoo (Contact Us Please). You'll need to parse that into a real email address. So if you do not understand, ask for interpretation here. What I need in return from you is an email address for you and your partner.

Finally, here are the rules around this event:

Rules

• Event hours are 6:30 AM to 1:30 PM, final boat inspection at 6:15 AM. No teams will be accepted after this point.

• Weigh-in check in will be the act of handing your number to an event director.

• Boats late for weigh-in will be assessed a one pound penalty for each minute late. Boats more than five minutes late are disqualified.

• 2 people per boat. Boat mates fish as a team. There will be not exiting the boat except in the case of an emergency. See an event director for emergency definition.

• 6 fish per team. Culling of live fish only. Culling must take place immediately upon the 7th fish entering the boat. Mishandling this situation (i.e. carrying around more than 6 fish) is grounds for disqualification.

• Largemouth and smallmouth bass are eligible for weigh-in. Minimum size of 12”. Fish under the minimum size will not be weighed.

• Dead fish will be assessed an 8 ounce penalty. A dead fish is not eligible for biggest bass.

• Live bait is not allowed.

• Team members must wear a PFD whenever the boat is under the power (in motion) of its outboard motor. Failure to comply is grounds for disqualification.

• Gas powered motor trolling is not allowed.

• Consumption of alcohol or banned substances before or during event hours will result in an immediate disqualification.

• The field will be limited to 15 boats.

Sportsmanship

• Good sportsmanship towards fellow participants, other anglers, and other water users is expected at all times.

• State fishing or boating regulation violations may be grounds for disqualification.

• Give your fellow participants plenty of room while on the water. If you were not “there” first, don’t make an area a crowded one. Move on to your next spot.

Fees and Payout

• Entry fee is payable by cash only. Checks or credit cards will not be accepted. The entry fee is $40 per boat and $10 for the biggest bass pot per boat.

• Payout will be to the first 4 places by the following percentages: 1st place – 40% of total pot, 2nd place - 30%, 3rd place – 20%, 4th place – 10%. Biggest bass receive 100% of the biggest bass pot.

Ray, I have an initial interest in this but need to secure a partner for the event. So "do not" take this as an entry towards the 15 boat limit you desire. If I can get my fishing buddy to join in I will give you a confirmation. If someone else is interested in partering up let me know. Sounds like a great time

Only two spots left. I'll have some more information forthcoming within the next couple weeks. One question for those who will be participating. Would anyone be against paying a launch fee (under $10) if we have use of some relaxation area afterwards to talk and have a beer/soda or two?

i will be traveling some distance to do the tourney so gas and entry fee are going to be plenty of money spent for me so i am slightly against a launch fee when there is freebee on the same lake. However i am only one guy and i know how nice it is to have a launch in a sense all to ourselves. Like i said this is only one man's opinion. Let us know how things will shake out. ike

I don't mind paying a Launch fee to have a little talk time. Would it at all be possible to make it around $5? although I don't appose to $10. I can bring a case also if need be (beer or pop) just let me know...

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
