110 vs gas vs 12v

Great topic! I'm thinking about 1 gas light, 4 DC lights, and a 3 AC outlets. My only question is...do I wire a car stereo (DC) or do I buy a used home stereo reciever (AC) ?

BTW, I have a Honda EU2000 but it just seems like too much hastle to rely on that for the lighting every time I go fishing. Seems like others agree. But maybe I use it when I want to listen to the stereo or watch TV, or should I wire those units DC as well?

I just found one called the Stay 'N Charge. That looks like the type.

These "gas" lights you are all talking about, Anybody know of a place around here that sells them?

Try fish house supply for them or a rv supplier. Basicly a RV type light that runs about $50 -$60 I think. Provides light equivilant to about a (60) watt bulb and they run about 1lb of fuel per ten hours of operation.

Wire it DC.. you dont want big sensative home audio in your house !! Do both (110) and 12v wired with a converter and with that Honda you have it covered under any curcumstance.

The charge system you mentioned is the unit I used with excellent results.

I would go with a 12v car stereo there smaler and they will use less power and you can mount them anyware you want also the speekers can be mouned in the walls.

I use the stay and charge system also, both on my drop down house, and on my boat. Very nice if you are stuck somewhere with no electric to charge the batteries.

Hello all,out of all the posts here knowone mentioned WIND gererated 12/110 volt power source.110 is very spendy but 12v is very doable for much less than a noisy !!s generator................hope this helps some.think ice ..c63

More about this wind generated 12 volt system. I assume it could be used to charge batteries? What are some brands?

I could be wrong but I dont think they make one that will fold down if they do well it could be a very good option for power. the ones I have seen are about $800 and you can get a nice honda for that kind of $$$

Hello,southwest windpower airx has 12-48 volt wind turbines for 518-559 depending on the model,not sure about "fold down"models.....hope this helps.c63
