Water getting a little too low for you? smile.gif
I never converted one myslef but have run an outboard jet.I had a factory built one so I am not sure the cost, nor do I know where a guy could have it done. All though from what I hear is is not all that difficult to do yourself.
Anyway here is a contact number for a company that makes the jet units.

Outboard Jet Corporation
2035 Edison Avenue
San Leandro, CA 94577-1103
510-562-6049

I do not think they sell them retail but I am sure they can give you a dealers name where you might buy one.

I've seen 40hp johnsons with jet drive, but they were originally 55hp or larger, jet drive takes a lot of your power off motor.
A 40hp will be probably a 25hp with a jet drive.

As far installation I believe you just pull your lower unit off and slide jet drive in place. It will fit and bolt to motor with no problem, probably a 1/2 hour job.

Now, tough part is to find drive for your motor.....and you have to buy the boat grin.gifgrin.gif

BLB, I'm not up to date on Outboards, but I do know that MN seems to be more $ when OB Jets are concerned. Contact Joe Trout @ Trout & Sons, Salem, Mo. He is a respected and knowledgable OB Jet dealer. Joe has a large inventory of new and used OB Jets. Also, he is the foremost authority on what and what not to do when converting an prop to jet. Converting them is easy like Valve said. I think it'll be pricey to find one but I know we used 40hp Johnson/evinrudes converted to jets up in AK. For boats we used 18' Lowes johnboats w/ a semi-V hull. Alaska mining and diving in anchorage might be able to point you in the right direction. They have a HSOforum and sell used boats/jet motors. There are also lots of OB jets used on the west coast-Cali, Oregon, wash, idaho. Might want to check some websites out there as well. They are sweet rides and you can have alot of fun in a jetsled! Good luck on yor project!

An O/B jet unit for a 40 hp will run approx $1400 +- for a new one.

You will also typically have to have a bit of drill work done to mid-section for the initial install. Usually about 1.5 hrs. (drilling, changing water pump over, and installing) to have a dealer do the install for you.

You will also have to have a transom riser installed to raise your O/B 5 in. so the jet will run properly.

Good used jets will run you about $700-$800 for a 40 hp.

AK Mining and Diving should have a new one in stock as well as a transom riser.

Be very aware that while this engine converted to a jet will push a flatbottom jon quite well. It is not going to run very well on a v hull type fishing boat. If you have some thing along the likes of a 16' or larger Lund type fishing boat you will need to go with a much larger engine. At this point it would be much more economical to sell your rig and buy a Riverpro before Kevin figures out how much he can really get for them! grin.gif

I don't even own the rig.
There is one I am looking at, that is a flat bottom jonboat with a 40 hp prop.

I have my Crestliner that I am keeping. I like to visit big waters too.

This would be boat number 2 in the garage. smile.gif
One for lakes, and one to destroy on the river.

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
