Crayfish?

Do our (metro) lakes have crayfish? I don't recall seeing any evidence of crayfish in any local lakes. I sure see lots of mussels! Too bad there's no mussel shaped plastics.. (joke)

Yep. We have crayfish. I don't know if every lake has a significant number of crayfish, but there's very few times where I can think of live welling fish in a metro tournament that did not spit up crayfish.

I just read the 'officially' a tube is supposed to imitate a crayfish. Didn't know that.

I agree to a point. It all depends on how you are fishing the tube, and the color selection. In some cases, I would use one to immitate a baitfish as well.

well like it has been said bass are opportunistic feeders. So if they have eaten 1 crayfish in their life they will probably eat another if it was dangled in front of their face. i think this is why so many guys like the j n p and tubes they get it done. ike

OCF, I got your handle wrong on the first post, so I gave Deitz a chance to take a shot at me grin.gif Trust me it had nothing to do with your post just mine... Yes you have craws in Ida, I had a home on Ida for about 8 years and this past weekend fished a tournament there, after the tournament I had enough craw pieces in my livewell that I needed to use a shop vac to clean the mess up. smile.gif Great job on the first walleye, hopefully it will be the first of many. This fall (Oct) frogs at night on the south shore of Little Ida bay, you will get some huge bullheads, but about every 4th or 5th fish will be a nice walleye.
