Wavey Davey
Do built-in fuel tanks have vents? If so, where? The gas cap on my boat does not have vent.Might seem like a dumb question, but I'm used to the loose tanks with the small vent knob on the cap. This relates to my other post on loss of power. 0 Gissert
On my Lund, and most other boats I have seen, the vents are usually located just below the filler hole.
0 Wavey Davey
Thanks, I'll take look underneath the splash-well on the gas line. Is the vent always open or can you open and close it?
0 Surface Tension
Look on the side of the boat for a crome knob. No you can't close the vent.
0 Valv
The knobs nowadays are black plastic.....gotcha S.T. Just kidding, he's correct, the vent is a 1" round knob (chrome or black) located somewhere near the center top side of the boat.
0 Giant_Jackpot
The vent on my 2000 Crestliner is under the gas cap. You have to look hard to see the little slots that are under there but that’s where they are. If you have a newer boat, it will not have a vent on the outside as others have suggested. Those are not legal to have anymore (think about it, filling the tank and letting raw gas run overboard to let you know the tank is full? – Not a good idea). I have a 2006 Lund 1800 Fisherman and the fill is on top of the gunnel toward the back and the vent is under the gunnel a little behind the windshield. I guess no one told Lund that they are illegal. 0 Giant_Jackpot
Oops. I should have been clearer; I was talking about the vents that were mounted on the outside of the hull. Thanks for helping clear that up.
