Look st my first catch out in a boat this year. Before anyone gets all mad I was fishing for crappies using a litle 1 1/2 inch chartreuse soft plastic minnow.

Hey Fishy, At least when you pick up your boat you have open water to go to! I just got my new boat (well new to me) and I have yet to find open water that I can put it in. I suppose I could dump it in the river but man I'd be mad if I hit something.

Not a bad way to start the season. I would say that is a good omen! I am going out tonight for the first time for crappies. I hope my year starts out on the right foot with a 15" slab, one can dream at least grin.gif

Nice fish, I too had a similar experience, went to my normal early season crappie spots, first cast had a nice bite, missed it, flipped my flu flu back out there, connect this time, pulled up a nice walleye.........ugh.....ok try this again where are the crappies.......next cast hooked up and lost anouther what i assumed was an eye, moved to a differt area down the bank, lost another walleye and decided to move on before I was accused of poaching..........o well

My first fish of the open water season...last evening we took the boat out for the 2nd time and got into some beautiful crappies 12 and 13 inchers...had 2 that went close to 14 inches! Man it was fun! We also caught 1/2 dozen lm bass. The 1st time Sunday, we got skunked!
