Favorite Brand of spinnerbait/color - why ?

Mine would be Terminator Titanium's right now. I like the durability of the wire, pike don't tear them up like regular light wire. Color - chartreuse/white combo,

Size would be 3/8's most of the time. 1/2 if slow rolling deep weedline. Anybody using the BooYah brand, they look good to.

Terminator is my pick! They last a long, long time. For $6.00 they'll last 3X's longer than a cheaper one and you don't have to always straighten them out. Plus you get the twin blade option which works great. The skirts rock! For me it's a no brainer. Bring on the open water! cool.gif

I use all the major brands, terminator, strike king, and booyah. They all have there differences. I'm starting to shy away from terminator because the titanium shaft doesn't give off as much vibration as steel, also at 6 bucks I expect everything to be perfect, and the split rings on the swivel are just to wimpy for heavy use, I have had probably 8 or so blades sneak off the split ring because I didn't check it often enough. I've started to change out the rings and swivels with SPRO components and I haven't had a problem yet, but prices adds up fast when your changing out 20 or so and making up your own quikchange blades. I really like the new strike king series that came out this year (dont remember the name but has Shaw Grigsby on the package) They have really vibrant colors and blades, can't wait to try them out. Booyah makes great ones as well just haven't used them enough to find any major problems.

I know that of a spinner bait that was most over looked. It has not been mentioned and is the War Eagle spinner bait. I have seen this one work 10 times better then any other one out there. I know of several local pros that I have turned onto this brand.

I will never own a lure called War Eagle! (sorry, you'll have to reference my name to figure that out grin.gif)

I used to use only Terminators, but the blades would fly off a lot and the head would break too because fish around a lot of rocks. Banging the rocks all day is not good for any lure.

Booyah's didn't seem any better than cheapo's to me. They would get all bent out of shape easily.

So now I just make my own from components. I have a million different color and blade combinations at my disposal, and for about 1/3 of the price.

I like the War Eagles but not really crazy about the glitter heads. One I like a lot is the one put out by Strike King (I think) and is under Rick Clunn's name - vibration will shake your rod. Another one I like a lot but have not used much recently but it has caught a TON of fish is the Hank Parker bait - forgot the name (Classic?) but I think Mann's puts it out and it's big thing is very light wire which increases vibration especially at slow speeds. Then there is a local guy that makes a heckuva spinnerbait (FlaMinn Lures). Colors for all of the above: White, Black, and Chartreuse/Blue. Used to catch lots on junebug skirt and also bubblegum skirt too but have not thrown either for some time.

Probably the spinnerbait I have the most of is the el cheapo Reed Runner - change the blades, change the skirt, and who cares where you throw it and/or how many snakes bite you off.

Bought a couple of 1 oz spinnerbaits for slow-rolling in deep water or at the edges of main lake points - we'll see how that works out.....

I stick with Strike King. The color and blade configuration is usually dictated by the water color and what the sun is doing. But in the fall it's always a perch color of bluegill color.

White skirt with a large colorado blade!! Second choice is a orange skirt with medium brown colorado blade,Awesome on both pike and bass. I caught four large pike by accident on east-central lakes this last summer ,on spinners!!

Water color is a big factor in choosing the right spinner.

My favorite spinner bait is the one the other person in the boat is throwing at the time .Deitz is the one in the front of the boat most of the time and he is the one catching all the Bass on it he just has a twitch that the fish can't resist if he's throwing a spinner bait I'm going to throw a crank bait. So manny times i have watched him catch almost all the fish on spinners and the back of the boat dosn't have a chance . One thing thought i do injoy watching him catch a fish on a spinner i have painted for him.
