DRH1175
I am looking for another trolling battery. 27series what should I buy?
Norsky
I am on my 6th season with a pair from Batteries Plus. I do use an on-board charging system and the batteries are very well maintained.
DRH1175
What kind from batteries plus the werker line they sell or a name brand? I looked at some there. The prices seem pretty comparable to most other places. Not sure if I should spend the extra money on the trojan or just stick with the Werkers? Norsky
I believe what I have is the equivalent to what the werker line is now. Trojan makes an excellent battery also.
Northlander
Try Interstates. I have been running mine for 3 plus seasons and they are still performing well. Had them in my old boat and they served me well in that as well. I like the fact that Interstate treats me right when I do need something tested or to trade out a battery. Plus the Interstate shop by my house work with a lot of Tournaments around here and if you run one of their batteries and win a Tourney they will pay the next years entry fee. I dont know if all the shops do that but the one by me does. Therefore I run Interstates.
NEANGLER
Trojan or interstate are both good. Get an onboard charger if you do not have one - longer battery life adn much more convient.

RossT
OPTIMA Blue-Tops! Fast recharge, vibration resistant, and maintenance free. Best batteries I have ever owned, period. Ross
somedays
dumb question i am sure but is the idea of an onboard charger an easier charge due to not having to charge each individual battery when you get back home or does it actually charge on the water? Paul Waldowski
someday,An onbaord charger is a battery charger that is mounted in your boat and hooked up to each battery. When you are NOT on the water you plug in the unit to an outlet and it will charge and maintain the batteries in your boat. Each bank is responsible for charging a battery. For instance in my boat I have 3 batteries, thus I have a 3 bank on board charger. These chargers are smart chargers, thus they will control the flow to whatever battery needs the charge and when the battery or batteries are fully charged they will just maintain them at a full charge. Down Deep
Interstate gets my vote. I look more for a batteries staying power more than the years they last because I do a lot of remote camping and fish at resorts with gennerator power. The Interstate's have gone for 3 days of heavy use without charging. I've had and Excides, Battery Plus, MnKota, and a DieHard all of which were sucking air after a day or so. Now I stick with the Interstates. I
katoguy
The Minn Kota batteries used to be made by Exide. They are now Trojan. I believe Die Hards are Exide batteries.
castmaster
there are a brand or two of onboard chargers out there that charge off your motors alternator while running. not sure how well they work, or if it leads to battery drain problems on your starting battery or not. also not sure if they have overcharge protections built in or not (i would guess they do, but not sure)there is also a system that hooks into your tow vehicle that charges your batteries while towing.as for batteries i run 2 of the evertroll batteries. they are nice but just not worth the extra $$ in my opinion. i'll be going with optima blue tops next time around.
