How much snow?

We got 9 inches so far and it is thick heavy schtuff as well. Still snowing and blowing like crazy out there! Drove home from WI last night and the last hour and a half was a real treat! Guess I'll go work on the driveway some more. Have a good one and N Joy the Hunt././Jimbo

40-50 mph winds down in Mankato. Just talked with a friend who said visibiity in some spots is practically zero.

We drove through some heavy snow/sleet all the way from Little Falls to Coon Rapids lastnight on our way back from LOW.

This morning at 2am we didn't have anything on the ground other than a dusting, and then around 7am when I woke up we had several inches and it hasn't stopped since.

Looks to me like my travel plans are going to have to wait until tomorrow morning frown.gif

Oh well, at least there's still FM grin.gif

Matt -

Got any ideas how this snow and front will affect the pannies? Will it force them out deeper?

Being not far from you, we're experiencing the same weather. 7" - 9" of snow, still snowing at 10:00am (and blowing). None of the people who live out of town and work here made it in today.

Weather statement said 12 inches here as of 8:30. There is more than that on the deck now!! It is being awfully hard on the trees in my yard and the woods. Why couldn’t we have gotten this back when we could’ve used it??

This weather should throw off the pannies a little. I would expect them to hold more tight to the bottom. If they've already moved into their shallow water patterns then they will stay in those areas, but I wouldn't expect a lot of action. But then again, this winter has thrown quite a few curveballs at us, and the pannies could be going crazy right now... I've come to the conclusion that there are no rules this winter grin.gif

Thanks for the info. I might give it a go this Saturday in the shallows and see what happens.

Just went out and cleaned another 4 to 5 inches off the driveway depending on where ya measured it. That makes better than a foot of snow. Can hear snowmobiles all around the outside of town. Wish that I had one of those snowmobiles I would pull the Yukon out this afternoon and see where the pan fish are. Know what you mean about the ridge, my lil snow thrower does not do snow plow ridges so it was time for the scoop shovel. Lots and lots of very heavy snow packed in there but it is done now. There is still some blowing going on but the driveway is now just wet. Should be fun when it freezes tonight. Have a good one and N Joy the Hunt././Jimbo

8 - 9" in and around greater Bugtussle. Chores that usually take an 1 1/2 hrs. took an extra hour tonite including time to get things opened up. Not frozen underneath so was easy to take out large divots with the tractor and loader. Wind is still howling pretty good out there but should go down by midnite. Hopefully it won't completely fill in the cleaned out areas by morning. Tuckered out. Should take a nap before going out to the barn at 10.

We got atleast a foot here in Hugo. Nice heavy snow. I have a snow blower that I could not keep running this year. Every time I needed a breather I would look at that blower and start laughing.

    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
