superhawk16
Just wondering if there is such a thing. Normally I just go out frog hunting for awhile with a BB gun and get frogs that way but it would be nice to just show up and pick some frogs up out of a trap. tonyjor
I would just bury an open 5 gallon pail right up to the lip somewhere near a swamp or lakeshore where frogs are at. If you want to, for good measure, throw a few black crickets in it to give off a little "ambience" to lure the frogs in. Check it the next morning and I'll bet there's gonna be more than frogs in it
superhawk16
ya thats actually a really good idea, I just hope it isn't filled with snakes when I come check it in the morning, man those things creep me out.
Deitz Dittrich
I would think that most frogs could jump out of a 5 gal bucket?
fisherman
Quote:I would think that most frogs could jump out of a 5 gal bucket? It might work. You'd have to put 4-5 inches of water in the bucket so they couldnt jump out. Id just go buy a butterfly net, I've seen them sold at toys r us. Hotspotter
Watch Jerry Springer. There was an excellent episode on "frog-giggin'" last week when I stayed home sick. Daytime T.V. is terrible.Joel

I made the mistake of buying an Xbox when it first came out, now a few years later I found myself running like a little kid trying to buy a 360 in Nov. (Yes I was faster and got one, but not my proudest moment) It's a good thing open water season is here to break up my late night marathon online sessions. My point is to think twice about that gaming console
DARK30
Sounds like a snipe hunt to me I did hear a guy say he could catch frogs with a fly rod. He said to dangle the fly in front of the unlucky kermit and he'd try to eat it...makes sense but I never tried it. Hey dtro, pick up an Unreal Tournament 04 game...I'll meet ya! I guess UT07 is in the makings now.

It works quite well, but it's hard to get the frog to let go!
Dennis Steele
I have "fished" for frogs and it does work.Takes a little getting used to however.First you have to actually see a frog then offer him a "fly" before he gets nervous and jumps in the water. Then, the frog doesn't jump at the fly dangling there in front of him, instead he shoots his tongue out at the fly, so a very limber rod works best. I used a 16ft telescoping crappie pole and it worked pretty good.It is a real kick!I did find that a net works much better most of the time. DTro
So let me get this straight. I need to go out a buy a new rod to catch a "bait" fish to lure the flies. Then I have to buy another rod to catch the flies, then another rod to catch the frog with the fly, and then another rod to catch the fish with the frog? Pay no attention to me, it's after 10:00 and I'm a little tired

riverrat56
Well, I just go tromping around in the knee deep mud and dive after them usually with my hat as I forgot the butterfly net, which is usually futile as my hat isn't fitted and has a open back........although some people may not be as "nimble" (stupid) as me so.....A butterfly net works well, look for drying up puddles in areas with out a water sorce around as the frogs have no other place to go.
