Is it too early...

Recommended Posts

to begin thinking about the WI opener? Are you gonna chase bass or walleyes? Where are people going to fish? I get pretty fired up for WI opener because I'm usually turkey hunting on MN opener.

I believe I'll take a shot at walleyes on a Western Wisconsin lake. I got taken to school last year by a local within casting distance of me. We ain't letting that happen again. laugh.gif

Not too early for me. I have been chasing bass on the opener for years, but my fishing partner has other things that have taken away the fishing opener. I may have to chase the Waldo's this year. I did have a really good day on the river near Prescott last May. Hmmmmmmm?

I'll be out on the big lake chasing salmon and laker if the wind is right. (Hopefully not for the first time this spring.) Otherwise I'll probibly end up after bass on an inland lake somewhere

It's never too early to start talking open water! I have put the ice gear away for the year and am tying flies and getting my steelhead gear together. Next comes eyes on the river and trout and salmon on superior. And I still need to find time for the early WI trout season to get my fly-casting shoulder in shape! So many fish so little time. grin.gif

Ussually do ok If it isnt too cold! Sometimes get a fiesty Muskie in the mix too... Usssually end up going for Crappies though lol

I will be on the big lake trolling if the winds right. If not I will head to a small inland lake for some bass and pannies. Since the panfish season and the big lake is open all year I really consider the next weekend on the St. Louis the opener for me.

Don't let Wydlewal fool ya, he will be home watching kids on the opener grin.giftongue.gif (just joking)

For those of us who will be fishing the WI river before opener, when do you all start? Last year I think I started fishing it really early April, but can't quite recall.
