Ifinder H2O Adaptor when not in your truck

I'm looking for any ideas on how to set up an adaptor I can use in the house for my H20 to save on battery use. Can you wire a regular AC adaptor to a female cig lighter plugin and then plug the H2O cable into that? Anyone have any success with something like this I'd love to hear about it.

i was thinking about that too..... why not have a cig. addapter on the vexlar so when your in the portable you can use it. we have addapters in perminet fish houses, on snowmobiles, in the truck, but why not in the portable.

it seems like every time i turn it on to mark a spot i see a fish comming through and i end up setting it down and it doesent get picked up for a hour. that seems like a good way to run your batteries down.

A time out would be a good add on for those units, I do that at least once a week. confused.gif

I'm going to try to pick up on Derbert's original question, and ask it again in a very specific (maybe odd-ball) way:

I see that Fleet Farm has the Rapala ProGuide Deluxe electric fillet knife set on "sale." Now, I'm probably more interested in a cordless knife, but I'm curious -- could I (safely) use the alligator clip adaptor and/or 110V female adaptor with my Expedition C gps to run it in the house or off of my Marcum battery? (The Expedition C is basically the same as the H2O C with a few add'l bells and whistles) In other words, should I worry about improper voltage being supplied and frying my unit? Here's a pic to make my question a little clearer:

Yes, you can use the aligator clip and any 12v DC battery/source.

If the AC Plug in converts the AC to DC you could use it I beleive.

It's a great knife you'll like it, I use the aligator clip all the time.

Thanks for the quick reply, pierbridge.

Now, it's not like I have any reason to question your warning about 110V: 1) it seemed pretty emphatic, 2) I'm no electrician, and 3) I have no interest in frying my gps... but wouldn't you think that's what that big doohickey is for on the AC plug unit -- to step down the 110V to 12V?

I'm just surprised nothing like what I'm looking for is being sold by lei.

My bad if the AC pluggin adapter converts it to DC then you should be good to go.

There should be input and output ratings on the box part of the AC adaptor. I don’t know about your unit, but the cig. Lighter adaptor for the H2O regulates the out put voltage to the unit down to 3 volts. As long as the output of your adaptor (Rectifier) is DC voltage above 3 volts, I would think it would work.

I bought a 11o volt plug in w/the cigarette lighter hole already in it for my cell phone when in a hotel. I use the same unit when I want to run my H20 in the house. I just plug in the cable and plug the unit into the wall outlet. Bought it at one of the Radio Shacks.

Well, this post was from more than a month ago, but I thought I'd follow up: I did wind up getting that Rapala ProGuide Deluxe electric fillet knife set at Cabelas a couple of weeks ago, and tried my ExpeditionC in its cigarette lighter socket. Worked like a charm. The big block on the socket cord was clearly labeled "110v in" and "6v out" so I felt safe trying it out. Turned on the backlight and spent an evening happily entering a bunch of waypoints from my old gps, traveling around the Boundary Waters in a little virtual tour, and looking up some hotels and restaurants for a future trip to the big city without having to sit out in the car (or burn up a package of batteries). This thing is nothing short of amazing! cool.gif

I was thinking the same thing.

For those using the vex battery and the plug in, how many hours are you getting before you have to recharge?

    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
