I would like to pick Jr. as he should do well, but im going with a Hendrick car,yes Jeff Gordo as he has been running better than Jr. That not where my heart is,but thats my pick. frown.gif

The bad part of this race is I cant watch it because I have a Pheasants Forever banquet tonight. frown.gif

Well if it wasn't for the know-it-all Busch kid hitting everything out there but the pace car, it may have been a ho-hum event. Should be interesting next Sunday!

How about Stewart's comments on the wild racing? He must have got a wake-up call when he rolled his midget in the off season or something. Didn't expect that from him, although I think he was just tired of the #5 running him all over the track today.

5 drove like an one-who-thinks-I-am-silly, no doubt about that, but I think the last ten laps when he wasn't even around much were as crazy as anything. Good grief what a wild race. Fun to watch, but holy smokes...

That Hamlin kid will win rookie of the year by about a billion points over Truex and the others. He's the real deal...

Yep Hamlin's good, Stewart speaks the truth (someone will be killed), the 500 will come down to the 20 and 24 and either the 12, 5 or 25 will start a "big one".

On a different note did you see that the 48's qualifying time was DQ'd cuz they found a traction control device?? Makes one wonder about things. If it where me I'd throw them out of the race.

Where'd you hear that from? I never heard or saw them talk about that on tv and I didn't see anything on NASCAR.com about it either???

Hamlin did a great job driving today. I wonder to some degree if Stewart let him have it the last two laps...the bottom of the track was the best place to be and nobody was able to pass high, yet Hamlin passed on the high side. I know Johnson gave him a push, but people were trying to push past on the high side all day long and weren't able to do it. No matter though, he drove good and didn't disrupt the field like the 5 and 25. I'm not sold on Hamlin taking the Rookie of the Year honors though. I thought Gordon was going to win his 5th championship after he won the 500....quite a long season ahead and lots of things could go wrong.

The 5 & 25 need to learn how to drive plate races in a big 'ol hurry, or Stewart is right. If guys are driving in the 500 like they did today, there will be A LOT of cautions!

Well, well, well. Some people never learn. Last year it was the shocks and now a track-bar adjuster. Remember what happened to Harvick's chew chief last year when they were caught? Yep, better bench that Knauss for a while. I remember during qualifying they reported that "they think they hit on something". Sure did, and NASCAR found it....again.

Apparently there may be some other items with the #24 car and also the Burton car too.

This is off of Jayski's site. The best place for uncensored NASCAR news and rumors.

Johnson's qualifying run disqualified MORE Burton and Gordon cars also being looked at AND #96 also disallowed: on Speed Channel's Victory Lane show, Bob Dilner reported that #48-Jimmie Johnson's Daytona 500 qualifying run has been disqualified due to an illegal traction control adjuster on the right rear of the car. Johnson had qualified 5th on Sunday with a speed of 188.762mph and the rear tires were rubbing and smoking during his run. So Johnson will not have his speed to fall back on if he has a bad run in the Gatorade Duel race on Thursday, but since he is in the top-35 2005 owners points, he is guaranteed a spot in the Daytona 500. Could be a fine and/or points penalty coming.

AND Jimmie Johnson qualified 5th on Sunday in Daytona 500 time trial runs. He has been disqualified. Johnson had an illegal off-set track bar adjuster in the right rear of that car. If you remember during his time trial run, the #48 was smoking out on the racetrack in the left rear. With this illegal adjuster, it boosted up the back glass and actually made the left rear rub a little bit so that time has been disallowed by NASCAR. There are a bunch of other issues in the garage area. In fact, some issues with the #31 team of Jeff Burton. That's right. Your Daytona 500 polesitter. Those issues have to do with the engine, and that's being hotly discussed in the garage area right now. In the media center after the Budweiser Shootout, NASCAR said it is researching several things from post-500 qualifying tech, including Burton's car as well as the #24 car of Jeff Gordon.(FoxSports), see qualifying results on my Daytona 500 Qualifying/Grid page.

UPDATE: been told that Jeff Burton's #31 Cingular Chevy passed inspection and there is no issue with the motor. BUT have been told the #96 DLP Chevy's time has been disallowed due to an unapproved carberator modification, so Terry Labonte will start from the rear at the Gatorade Duel's.(2-12-2006)

They need to do something with the 48 car or crew chief if this is true. It seems that they are always the ones getting caught. I know that all teams push the rules but apparently they 48 crew either are pushing it the hardest or else they just aren't learning.

I have never like the #5 but I guess that is probably because of his big brother never liked either of those two. Also what is with Newman. That guy can't keep a car on the super speedways. It seems he is always spinning or flipping maybe he is just always in the wrong spot at the wrong time but it seems he is there often.

I think that Tony gave it to Hamilton. If he would have wanted it him and Jr. could have hooked up and gotten it done. I bet if this race was for the 500 the result would have been different.

It was nice to see the Jr. and Waltrip run good today. I just wonder who will get it done next weekend.

I saw the report for the 48 team on NASCAR.com. Seems like the 48 team are "repeat offenders" on a number of different items throughout the years. I don't know if it's Jimmy's fault as much as it would be Chad's. If they keep up their antics, NASCAR may just decide to come down hard on that team some day. I like that team, but they need to play more by the rules.

If I where in charge I'd take the 48 car away (you know it's their best piece and that would hurt them the most) and suspend the crewchief for 10 races. But I'm not in charge so it will be interesting to see what they do, and yes he seems to be a repeat offender.

TNFL, truth is not bashing.

Unfortunately, there are only two kinds of racers, Cheaters and Losers. ALL these teams work as far into the grey area of the rules as they can. You get caught, you serve your penalty and then you are back at it. That's the game...
