Good sealant for boat floor

I am redoing the floor in my boat and would like to seal the plywood before I put it down. Any recommendation for a good sealant that will hold up?

If you're just putting the plywood down to be used as your floor and would like a little color and durability, use Herculiner. This is a do-it-yourself bed liner kit that works! I have done two truck beds with it, the frame of my tent trailer, boat trailer and some other things. It is non-slip and holds up to pretty much everything. It doesn't chip,peel or fade if put on correctly. You can find it at many stores like Menards,Walmart,Fleet Farm,etc. in the black color. I believe they also make it in gray and red, but you can only order that online at Herculiner.com. I recommended this idea to a buddy for the floor of his boat and he is very happy with the results.

Do you mean to waterproof wood or seal between the hull and wood ?

Do you want to seal the wood from water ? Like with a waterproofing sealant (Thompson, etc. )....

Is it an aluminum boat or fiberglass? What kind of plywood? And like Valv is asking, are trying to seal water out of the plywood or trying to prevent chemicals from the plywood leaching out and reacting with the hull?

I used "spar" varnish on mine and my bro's boats, coated the underside of the ply and edges. the carpet glue sealed the top, I also wraped the carpet around the edge and stapled it to the bottom side of the ply to keep that edge attached.

ps, the original plywood (1/2" 3-ply) on the floor in both boats, 82-83 lunds was not marine grade nor were they sealed on the underside, so they did last a long time with out.

I am using standard cdx 1/2" 4 ply, I want to seal it to keep any moisture from getting into it.

Thaaat's what I wante to know.

Best way to do it is to coat it with fiberglass resin only.

Go to Walmart get a gallon of fiberglass resin, mix it with hardener and cover the whole board or at least the bottom, sides and top edges, use a regular paint brush.

That's the best way to waterproof it.
