0 Phred52
Opsirc, Are you talking about lug bolts or studs? Lug bolts have the hex head and the threaded shaft in one. The studs have a flat circular head, splined shaft and then the threads. Cuold this be a homemade trailer? If you need the left hand thread bolts, Chrysler Corp. used them years ago(40's to mid 60's) and they should be available at an Auto parts store, Salvage yard or an older Chrysler dealership (Might be special order though). Good hunting![This message has been edited by Phred52 (edited 06-05-2004).]
0 opsirc
phred52these are off a 76 travel trailer. they have a 13/16 hex head, which tapers down (like a lug nut)to a threaded bolt. they come out of a fayette dayton hub.O
0 Phred52
Opsirc, Yep, sounds like a Chrysler lug bolt, 13/16" head and all. You might want to check with the oldest local salvage yard you can find. Look for the '60 and older Chrysler Products and get the bolts from the drivers side of the car. Don't you have a Northern store in the Duluth area? You might wanna give them a check too. I seem to recall they had lug bolt and nut kits in their catalog. Might be just what you need.[This message has been edited by Phred52 (edited 06-05-2004).]
0 1DIRTBALL
Sounds like a Chrysler lug bolt allright. When I was a callow, dumb youth, I had a flat tire while driving my mother's '48 Plymouth. Many skun knuckles and several years worth of expletives, I finally got the @#%&^()#@ thing changed.------------------YOU CAN'T talk AN OLD talk'ER! 0 Surface Tension
Sam, Have you tried some of the older auto parts stores in the west end like GTC and Mehans.
0 opsirc
FrankI think I tried them all, they all seem to use the same books to order parts. the one store that did have them at one time could not find them anymore. most have right hand threads but not left. no one has parts from the 60-70s anymore. even tried a couple of junk yards. no luck. may just have to change the hubs to a newer style.S
0 Surface Tension
If it comes down to replacing the hubs. I would drill and a tap a size up or press in studs and convert to nuts.
