How big would freshwater shrimp be now

Just curious(like George) cuz I've been checking stomach contents on the perch I've been slicing up and thought I spotted a few, but they could have been very, very tiny crawfish as well? Not quite sure what I'm looking for I guess. Thanks.

Coots buddie.. Crayfish "spawn/reproduce" in the spring of the year. I would be willing to be what you are seeing are freshwater shrimp. They too can very in size, but typically are about 1/4"if they are stretched out smaller when balled up and are an olive green in color...but that can very as well.

Maybe little Hellgramites you are finding? Freshwater shrimp at this time of year are about 6 inches long and weigh about a quarter of a pound. They kinda look like a big prawn.

You can catch all you want by lowering a burlap bag filled with cotto salami, into the shallows of a lake near you. The shrimps feet get tangled in the burlap when they come to feed and you can pull them right up!

Hook them shrimp lightly with a size 10 eagle claw hook, attached to no more then 2# test line, no sinker...fish them deep, 30 to 40 feet...the really jumbo perch in the 4 pound range really love em!

On Devile lake they have so many freshwater shrimp they pop out of the hole when you are drilling. As many as you could want. They seem to run from 1/4"-3/4". I have of course tried tipping a jig or spoon with them and to no avail. We faired better on Waxies, Spikes and Minnows.

Softshells (AKA Peelers) were the Jumbo perch baits when I fished Chicago's Lake Shore. We used the entire bait, tail first, head next then the claws. It seems that they don't sell them fresh anymore, just frozen. I grew up fishing the Chicago "Rocks" but, I don't spend much time on the Chi-town lake front anymore.

If I get out for perch on the lake front now its in a boat and its the best I have ever seen for perch anywhere I have fished them. The fish average 11-13" with fish upto 15" a regualar occurance.

The Great lakes are true fish factories. Some of the best fishing around here is right out in front of those high rise buildings.

Bud's I have talked to in Wisconsin say they get 16"+ perch up there in Lake Michigan.
