Wow, that was way too easy.

I broke into a few vehicles in my youth, but I guess I was under the impression that the auto door locks were harder to break into.

I was wrong. Locked my keys in my Honda civic today in New Ulm and was just short of calling a locksmith... I thought I'd see what was lying around the office for tools. 5 minutes later, I had it jimmy'ed. Maybe I should change careers.

Morals of the story are that:
A. You should always try it yourself before asking for professional help....

B. Don't leave anything in your vehicle that you value. Cause if someone wants in...they are going to get in.

Yup, the metal coat hanger still does the trick, the only problem now is finding a metal coat hanger, most are plastic.

I've locked my keys in my newer grand cherokee twice. Gained entry in about 10 minutes each time with a metal coat hanger as well. That opened my eyes a little too!

Well I can tell you this, its not so easy to get into a Silverado, I've watched two different people try to open locked doors on my truck and it took the first one the better part of 15 minutes and the second one actually had to call another guy for advice and it still took him an additional 20 minutes.

This is with the selection of "break-in" tools that these tow truck drivers carry.

I had a '99 Dodge truck, local cops spent 1/2 hour trying with Slim Jim and other tools, then another guy got it finally.

yea I have found a 1/8 fishtape to be a little better than a coat hanger

Wastewater, What were ya doin' in New Ulm? I was there too, live there. Hey, another one to add to the "moral list". Hide a key on the vehicle (and commit it to memory) so you don't need to worry about coathangars or slimjims, works for me! LOL! 36 years driving (legally) and not a single lockout!
