LX-3tc/LX-5 interference with FL-8

KrashR

Question

I am thinking of purchasing a LX-3 or LX-5, but have a FL-8 that would probably still be used in the same house. I know there are other posts about this question, but will it be easier to block the interference on both with the LX-3 since it is 1500 watts as opposed to the LX-5's 2000 watts. I am leaning towards the LX-3, just because I don't think I would use the dual transducer option much.

I have fished next to FL-18s with my LX-3 and have not had any problems on either flasher. Not sure where you're located, but Dick's in Minnetonka had LX-3s (last year's model) for $280 this past weekend.

I have an LX3-tc and have fished in the same house (8x12) along side a fl-18 and fl-8 at the same time, just hit the IR button once or twice and all interferance goes away, it's awesome. Also fished in the same house as the lowrance x67, no problems.

On a side note, while fishing side by side with the x67 and lx-3, if the x67 was in the water first and turned on before the lx3, we expierienced a ton of interferance on the x67. BUT, if the lx3 was turned on before the x67, there was virtually no interferance on the x67. We tried this in the same holes less than 10 ft away from each other. Just thought i'd throw that out there because of all the threads i've seen about the interferance issues people have been having.

Good luck, you will be very happy with your purchase, whichever you go with!

I have an old FL-8 (no IR) and an LX-5 and, for the most part, I have been able to cancel out any interference. The only time I had difficulty was when the two units were about 6 feet apart and we were fishing in 36 feet of water.

Quote:

Depending on what kind of bottom your fishing the LX-5 will generally wipe out the FL-8.

Can you elaborate on this? I've fished my fl-8 about 6 ft from my friends lx-5 and didn't have a problem after some IR adjustments on both flashers... in about 25 ft of water...
