I have a friend that uses one of those camper jacks that a pick up camper uses to lift off the truck,he got it from a garage sale. Then he fills a gallon milk jug with water to hang off the stand to give it some weight and prevent tipping, works slick.

Skunked: I found that the stand that comes with the Quartz lights makes a very stable mount for the dish. I had an old set of lights that I removed the top sections off of and cut the lower part to accomidate the dish. I removed the leveling portion that come with the dish, that is used when placing the dish on an unlevel roof. Since the tripod center post is already is 90 degrees to the ground, I simply placed the dish on to the shaft and adjusted the horizon angle to where I'm at and pointed the dish to the correct direction.. The lower you cut the center post, the lower the center of gravity is. Mine will with stand a pretty good wind gust. You can also get a signal strength meter for about $35 at most camping supply stores. Lots of camping people use the dishes for remote locations, which would be the same as us using them on the ice... grin.gif Kaz

You guys have too much time on your hands... either that, or the fish aren't biting and you need to find a way to keep yourselves occupied? grin.gif What ever happened to the good old days - being "one with nature"? wink.gif

I made a bracket out of 2x2's and a pice of PVC pipe, then attached it to the wall of the fish house by the door. When I want to use the dish (which is normally kept in the house) I just slide it on to the PVC upright. The advantage is I can see the TV from the doorway to get the dish aligned.
