Anylakeanytime
Man... I have never been so excited for spring to come around in my life! I bought a new boat last fall (first boat) and I only got it out twice, since then my wife gave me "permission" (with a little coaxing) to rent a cabin for the entire season. Now I get to sit around and think about it every darn day.... is it May 13th yet? Anyone else ever been plagued with this "early winter blues" before??? gunflint
For those of us that don't sit in the slush looking down a hole, winter can be tough. But it's a good time to study, re-rig, clean reels, spend money, etc. Not to mention a boat project that keeps the fishing DTs away. For some reason this winter seems to be going a little faster than past ones but it hasn't been cold yet either. I get comfort in the fact that the opener will be on a full moon this year and I'll be ready.

PEATMOSS
Iget that feeling your having every year about the 2nd week of Feb. Right now there is just too much fun to be had here in the northland.Ice fishing snowmobiling and making wood. Seems like it all starts to drag when the snow starts to melt, trails get bad and lakes get sloppy on top. March and April oughta be outlawed!!!!! Anylakeanytime
I am renting on Star lake (by Perham, Dent, Pelican Rapids...etc.). Any tips would be appreciated also. I have only fished it 4 times and have had limited luck (6 walleyes one day, 2 another, and 1 both other times). I usually fish for walleyes, but am willing to venture beyond my biased upbringing... njsimonson
Quote:Anyone else ever been plagued with this "early winter blues" before??? All the time, I start counting the days to mid-April (real fishing begins in ND then) at the first of the year. It is not so bad this year, as it has been fairly nice, and I know I have lots of flies to tie. That and we were openwater fishing by March 20 last year, so the wait doesn't seem nearly as long this year. Hold steady, spring will be here all too fast!
