Hehehe...Just had to share this with you all.

I brought a sucker (live) decoy for spearing home and put it in an uncovered cooler next to the downstairs toilet. 20 minutes later my wife came up stairs and said "where did you put that big fish?" Another 20 minutes of searching and we still can't find it shocked.gifconfused.gif

Hmmmm...ya think?

Jon...Actually I've got two St. Bernards that couldn't have...they were outside. But maybe the Dachshund...naw she's the same size as the decoy and still begging for treats. confused.gif

Hmmm...what kind of scent would you use for catching suckers in a septic tank? crazy.gif

Ok - this is the wife of (Contact US Regarding This Word) - I refuse to go in the basement for the next week - that creepy looking fish should smell bad enough to be found if it DIDN'T go in the toilet... and I also refuse to USE that toilet in the basement (too many Sci-fi movies about creepy creatures coming out of toilets)... Ok, so I am a wimp when it comes to slimy creatures... I would rather hunt fur and feather any day - I can't 'hunt and release' however... but I don't need bait either. ha. crazy.gif

Ya know, if'n you want to check to see if it's in the old septic tank, RENT one of those under-water cameras! As far as retrieving it from the tank, I'd go with no more than one-pound line, a Thorne Brothers sweet-heart (with a spring-bobber), and a Crappie Tom rat-finky. Good luck! grin.gif

There is no valve in the toilet. There is a bend in the toilet pathway somewhere. Get yer head down on the side, under the stool and you'll see the toilet curve around. The curve is what holds some water in there and prevents gas from coming up. Look at yer sink and observe teh "P trap" Same principle with the throne. So, the sucker could have ended up in there, worked his way around the curve, dropped down into the pipe and out into the septic. This is EXACTLY how the brown trouts get from the toilet out to the sewer or septic. No valves- just gravity. He would very unlikely get from the bowl up to the water closet (W.C.) because the flapper thing would bar his entry. If he could get the leverage up, he would push the flapper up and basically flush himself down the toilet. Never in MY LIFE thought I would be analyzing on a national BBS how a live sucker can get down the toilet.
