Lowrance iFinder H20 C

Did you get the H2O Color plus or the base model? I ordered the base model. Hopefully the other site you recommended will get them soon. I would imagine they would. Thanks and good luck playing with the new toy. I can't wait...a new LX-5 and when the H2O C arrives I'm set.

Hanson, pick up the small RAM mount along with the proper RAM cradle for the iFinder. Put all the pieces together (base, adjustable tube, and cradle) including the iFinder. Arrange so that the base is up against the pillar to the right of the steering wheel and the cradle is resting on the dashboard in good viewing alignment. Mark the pillar for where one of the base's screw holes will go. Drill starter hole and use machine screw to secure base to the pillar. You really need only one screw as you can adjust "tube" so that the cradle actually rests on the dashboard. I have used this exact arrangement with my LMS332c and LCX25c as well as my original iFinder H2O. It really works slick as the only "footprint" that remains is the unobstrusive base mounted to the pillar. The power cable from the unit to the cigarette lighter outlet merely lays on the steering column, behind the shift lever and into the cigarette lighter outlet. Very straightforward. Good luck.

p.s. Received my H2Oc this afternoon!!! Hitting the high desert country of San Carlos, Arizona in color and with my FreedomMaps Topo chip!! Look out quail.

Doc

Good luck down there!!! The new units should really pick up a signal a lot faster then the older B&W versions. Another reason to make the step to the color units!! The 16 channel receiver is definately a step up from the 12 channel!!

hanson,

I have been thinking about one of these since I saw that they were coming out on the LakeMaster site. Anyway, I was at Reed's that day looking at the original H2O (which they had just dropped the price on drastically so I knew something was up) and accessories for it. When I get mine I am going to get it with a RAM mount and the RAM mount suction cup that goes on the windsheild. That looked like the way to go for the vehicle.

I have just sold my old Magellan 320 and my portable fish house this week, and after I complete those transactions I am going shopping for one of these.

I can't wait.

Thanks hanson for the detailed reply on lake outlines.

As far as the question about switching to UTM number labels on the map grids, I downloaded and read the manual for the b/w h2o, and so far the answer seems to be "no." It only mentions Lat/Lon grids displaying in degrees and minutes. But maybe, just maybe, the color unit is different. ??

For now, color me GREEN with envy.

Per a phone conversation with Tiger GPS, my H2O C will be here 12/6 in plenty of time for our LOW trip. I am officially pumped. Thanks for all the advise. I have used the LakeMaster chip all summer in my LMS332C at it is awesome. I live on a narrow little road between a lake and a little pond(30acres). The little pond even shows up on the chip. The detail is crazy. I just recieved the Navionics Hotmaps Premium North Region, which has LOW on it. It will be interesting to compare the too chip during next years open water season.

Do most of you guys with handhelds and chips also use the LX-i or equivelent? I'm trying to justify an LX-i but think I will probably use my handheld and chip to find most of my new spots on the ice.

What do you guys think?

Hmmmm... Tough one. You really need both a GPS w/Lakemaster software or paper map used in conjunction with some sort of depthfinder. The LX-i would be a good choice for quickly checking depths and verifying those depths with what your maps are telling you.

The accuracy of the GPS can be way off at times for many reasons. You could be 50' off your spot and you wouldn't know it unless you had a way to check your depth.

Its been said many times on here but I will not go out onto the ice without my flasher (LX-3). After a flasher, the GPS is a handy little piece of equipment for navigation.

I just called Cabelas to see if they had the H20-C but I was told they won't have them until January???? Seems odd that they wouldn't get them before the holidays. I wanted to use my Club Card and get a discount on it this week during club days. Oh well....

That is a bummer deal that Cabela's won't be getting that GPS until January?!?! I bet there are hundred's of hunters/fishermen out there waiting to get there paws on one before Christmas. Bummer deal. mad.gif
