TNFL
Windy, Take a nitro and sit down. The bears will not go far, because they are not balanced. One defender slips giving up a long TD and it will be game over, bears lose. They just can't score. Yeah, it worked for the Ravens, but that was an exception. And they had an experienced QB. The mold for success is the PATS of recent, good defense AND good offense. Nobody from the NFC can beat the Colts/Broncos this year. AND YOU CAN..... Windy City Walleye Hunter
TNFL,I am completely relaxed. It's kind of fun being on top of the dung heap when everybody and their mother picked you to be at the bottom. I never thought that any NFC team could compete with some of the premier teams in the AFC but like Lovie Smith said, "If you don't let the other team score any points, you got a good chance at winning the game". Stranger things have happened, Bears are on a roll right now and I am "lovin' every minute of it". Bears and Sox in the same year??? Pinch me, I think I'm dreaming!YOU CAN PUT IT ON THE BOARD...YES! genegodawa
A. Workin' For The Weekend is all I have heard of by that "hair band" - but that is a great song come Fridays.B. After watchin' that display today, and I know they've got some injuries, either GB is really going for the first draft pick, or, and I know he's getting old, but still there oughta be an investigation into Favre ala Pete Rose. Pathetic! My bro-in-law (who is at the game) and Windy are lovin' it and I know I'll hear it. But the Bears were due to win a home game against GB SOMEtime in the last 12 meetings. Oh yeah, today makes them 1 for the last 12.I know everyone loves to see a good team in a down cycle. Shoot, I even rooted against the Cowboys many times in their heyday 'cause it was just too boring and now I'm doing it against the NE Pats (and the Bears, of course). Windy City Walleye Hunter
Hey Geno,Like I said in another thread, I was giddy watching that plow boy get the snot knocked out of him. He has terrorized us for decades now so it was some nice retribution. They pounded his ribs, his arm was in a sling at the end of the game and he had a silver dollar sized chunk of skin ripped out of his throwing hand between his thumb and pointing finger. Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy and at a better time, with the Queens still in the rear view mirror.DA BEARS! and don't forget the classic...YOU CAN PUT IT ON THE BOARD...YES! Super Bowl and World Series Champs???
genegodawa
NO!Yep, there was one TV shot of Favre blowin' snot so I guess he did get the snot kicked out of him. But c'mon, Mr. GiddyWindy. Only 8 completions I think and none were to Mushin whatshisname? They will have to beat an Indy or comparable caliber team to have my approval to start talking "Shuffle". Shoot, your WSox won a WSeries after a start to finish lead and I STILL ain't talking dynasty - but they are certainly better odds to win the pennant in '06 than Da Bears are to win the SBowl.Keep dreamin'.Now, who do I root for against the Bears next week? Windy City Walleye Hunter
Geno,That's what everybody said before the Bears played Carolina, and they said it again before they played Tampa. Both were division leaders at 7-3 before the Bears got a hold of them. Like Lovie Smith says, "If you keep the other team from scoring, you have a pretty good chance at winning the game". I tell you Geno, these guys look like the real deal on defense. They stink on offense but remember back in 85 when everybody was questioning Jimmy Mac and the recievers? I hate to go all "dinosaur" on you but like my old coach said, "Defense and a good running game is what wins games". The Bears have the best defense and their running game ain't too shabby. Stranger things have happened, right. 1917 was a long time to wait, shoot this is like a walk in the park with only 20 years passing since Da Bears were "shufflin on thru".YOU CAN PUT IT ON THE BOARD...YES! lots of luck
I am still not going to talk smack outside of the NFC North. I am a conditioned Bear fan, I don't know how to react to a team with a record above .500. I do agree about beating a couple 7-3 divisional leading teams, looks good to me.Bears fans enjoy the ride!! 4 to go, steelers, falcons, packers, and vikes
genegodawa
I agree they are getting it done, to borrow an old WSox-ism they are "winnning ugly", but Carolina and Tampa and GB aren't no Indy that's for sure. Thanks for the schedule update Lots.. Sounds to me like a 4-game losing streak could be in the cards for the Bears. So I guess this week I'll be rooting for the old Steel Curtain to make an appearance against DaBears.PS Windy, nice try, but how can you possibly compare the Orton offense to the JimmyMac offense as a way to get me to believe "stranger things have happened"? Gotta admit the Bears are keeping the chatter alive in Chi-town.

I am also am sure that you will never want to compare Thomas Jones to Sweetness. On the defensive side, only Urlacher would start for the front 7 on the '85 Bears and that would only be if he was willing to move to the outside. If the '85 Bears we to play this years schedule, Indy would not be the only undefeated team.

Yeah, I think I might hold out on reviewing the graceful moves required to perform the "Super Bowl Shuffle". In the meantime work on the lyrics though.I'm samaurai Mike...(Singletary)I'm the punky QB known as McMahon...(Jimmy Mac)If Jimmy can't do it I sure can, my name is Steve...(Steve Fuller)My name is sweetness and I like to dance...(RIP Walter P)Here are some game notes though from ESPN:"Memo to Steelers offensive line coach Russ Grimm, who is viewed by some teams as a potential head coaching candidate, but whose surname (if he simply expunged the second "m") could not be more appropriate at this point: The next team on the schedule is the Chicago Bears. Top-ranked defense in the league. Entered this weekend as the No. 6 outfit versus the run, surrendering 93.3 yards per game. Then again, 93 yards on the ground would represent an improvement for Pittsburgh, which is averaging a puny 83.7 yards per game and a microscopic 3.2 yards per attempt during its current three-game tumble.""Good luck, Pittsburgh, because you're going to need it. The right side of the Steelers' line, guard Kendall "False Start" Simmons and tackle Max Starks, has been nothing short of horrible over the past month. The starter at left tackle, rookie Trai Essex, has struggled in replacing the injured Marvel Smith. Not even the unit's top two players, center Jeff Hartings and perennial Pro Bowl left guard Alan Faneca, have been above demerits of late. Coach Bill Cowher was publicly critical of the line two weeks ago and many here felt it was a motivational ploy. Guess what? It wasn't. And if Cowher is ripping the line publicly, can you imagine what the Steelers coach, who was terse and tempestuous on Sunday after his team's latest poor outing, is saying behind closed doors?"From the CHICAGO BEARS homepage:"I don't want to make excuses. I'm just going to go out and have (my) best game of the year." Kyle OrtonWell that is it sounds like a win too me.
Windy City Walleye Hunter
Let me be the first one to post so that DTE can't say that I am a "fair weather" poster. Bears took one on the chin today but it was not unexpected. Had to lose sometime and today was no big deal, Queens are still a game behind and we still own the tie-breaker. I think the situation will return to normal next week with a Bear victory and the Queens will get their fill of "The Bus". I predict that the final contest vs the Queens will be a meaningless game for the Bears who will have already wrapped up the division.BEAR DOWN...CHICAGO BEARS!DA BEARS! Windy City Walleye Hunter
Hey Guys,Don't go putting words in my mouth. I never, let me stress NEVER, compared Orton to Jimmy Mac (when are you coming back). The comparison I was showing was the time that it has been since my beloved Pale Hose hoisted the hardware (1917) to that of DA BEARS (1985). I was making a funny, since it has "only" been 20 years for the Monsters of the Midway! If you guys keep talking like that, DTE will be all over me again for being a "Windy come lately". Here's to another Bear victory next week combined with a loss for the Queens and having the Bears lock this thing up before New Years Day. DA BEARS! Down to Earth
I must admit I'm a bit surprised you showed Windy. I was also a bit surprised by the Steelers margin of victory. It didn't surprise me that the Steelers won by any means, but I expected a bit of a closer game than that. I still think they end up winning the North. Fortunately my Pack is long gone history, but should still be a good final three weeks, and if not the very least at least we can maybe play the spoiler role a bit. genegodawa
Let me be the first to write I still feel yesterday was the start of a 4 game losing streak for DaBears.I know the Bears lost a few guys on D and the weather was cruddy, but Pitt's O-line really did a good job keeping the Bears off of Big Ben.Don't let him fool you guys. Windy knows deep down how really lucky his Bears have been. Now he's gonna go through another stretch of the end of a season like he did with his WSox - just hoping they can hang on. Windy City Walleye Hunter
Hey, Shut your "pie hole" and eat your birthday cake, old man! LOLCongrats on achieving the ripe old age you have Geno, I hope you get everything you want for your birthday and Christmas...A right fielder with a cannon, a shortstop who hits for power, an injury free season for Wood and Prior...etc.I hate it when somebody sees the man behind the curtain, because I am the great and powerful wizzard of OZ, or is that Ozzie! Just kidding, laughing myself silly (much like I did all summer with my beloved Pale Hose) as DA BEARS continue to lead their division. Never saw this season coming, but neither did the Sox! Anywho, happy birthday Gramps, and remember...YOU'RE NOT GETTING OLDER, YOU'RE GETTING LONGER!Windy
lots of luck
Wow, thanks Kyle for the kiss of death. I guess yardage wise this was his best performance, growing pains are inevitable with the rookie. So the loss is now out of the way. I just hope they can take care of the divisional games. Is Daunte available yet?More facts for the day:The Bears can clinch a playoff berth this weekend with a victory over the Falcons coupled with losses by the Giants and Cowboys. They can also secure the NFC North Division title with consecutive victories over Atlanta and Green Bay and would earn a first-round bye by winning their final three games. genegodawa
Just saw a blurb that Vick got hurt last night so maybe DaBears do have a chance against them now.Windy, thanks for the bday congrats, but Gramps?? genegodawa
So the Falcons prove that I'm no Kreskin. The Bears d-fence was solid. But the game was so boring, I fell asleep on the couch before half-time. I know, I know...winning ugly is still winning.
lots of luck
As a Bears fan that has seen his team victimized by Brett Favre for almost a decade and a half, the Bears Packers xmas game was pretty dang sweet.Did anyone else notice:Could Bill Maas been anymore Pro Packers as an announcer!!!!He could not have been anymore obvious, what a tool. scalescratcher
I too noticed the one sided call of the game. I was livid that they would allow someone to call a game in this type of rivalry that was obviously pro-Packer. The only consolation was hearing less of him as the game went on since there wasn't much to gloat about from the dark side!Go Bears!
